With day one release changes, a price hike, and lackluster games, the last couple of months haven’t proven to be the best for Xbox. Microsoft has invested heavily in the console and its Game Pass service in the previous five years. However, it seems like these efforts haven’t entirely paid off, as they’ve failed miserably to lure in new gamers.

September 26th was supposed to be a big day for Xbox fans. Microsoft had confirmed that it would be participating in the Tokyo Games Show 2024. Gamers expected some big launches for the console, which would’ve allowed them to leap ahead of PlayStation. TheOverwatch 2xMy Hero Academiacrossover is all set to kick off on October 17th. The event will run through October 30th, where players can obtain skins of iconic characters such as Deku, All Might, Uravity, Kirko, and Tomura Shigaraki. Of course, in typical Overwatch fashion,these skins come at a premium cost, so be prepared to fork out some money.
Even though it’s not the promised PvE content, it’s great to see Blizzard is trying to move forward and generate interest inOverwatch 2. Such crossovers can go a long way to build hype and lure in gamers, as proven byFortnite, which has every franchise and character under the sun in the game to experience.

However, this doesn’t change the fact that the Xbox Tokyo Game Show was a complete flop. Phil Spencer and his team promised to feature an exciting lineup of AAA games to build upon the future of the Microsoft console. However, all they’ve given us this time around are trailers and insignificant games.
