During an interview, Filoni talked about his initial approach to the character. The showrunner admitted that he went far too overboard with his ideas for Ahsoka, especially when introducing her into the canon. As a result, Lucas had to remind Filoni to take things easy, and here is what the veteran filmmaker told Filoni.

The series marked the first appearance of Ahsoka Tano, with Filoni and Lucas collaborating to create the fan-favorite character. During an interview with theofficialStar WarsYouTubechannel, Filoni admitted that he went too overboard with Ahsoka’s introduction.

Filoni revealed that when the character was being introduced, he wanted to give her a shell-shocked moment. He wanted to depict Ahsoka realizing she was out of her depth while facing a real battle situationduring the events of the Clone Wars. However, Lucas was against this idea.
I’ll never forget it, George watching and saying, ‘You guys are taking this a bit too seriously.’

Filoni made the above statement, explaining that Lucas argued against depicting Ahsoka being out of her depth.

Instead, Lucas wanted Filoni to emphasize the character’s competency. The veteran filmmaker felt that given her training as a Jedi from a young age, Ahsoka would be battle-ready despite being on one of her early missions. As a result, Filoni saw the merit of Lucas’ argument and changed the scene.

During a separate interview withIGN, Filoni revealed that he and Lucas found themselves at odds regarding another aspect of Ahsoka’s story and how it should unfold, especially given the state ofthe rest of theStar Warsuniverse.
Filoni revealed that he and Lucas often discussed Ahsoka’s fate, especially since the character is absent from the original trilogy. As a result, the assumption was that Ahsoka perished sometime before the events of the 1977 film, with Lucas initially planning the same.

In the early days, he’d be like, ‘Well, she’s gonna die.’ I’d be like, ‘Well… maybe not.’ [Laughs] We would go back and forth.
Filoni made the above statement, explaining that he always wanted a different fate for Ahsoka and as time passed Lucas became more open to the idea.

Eventually, Filoni gave Ahsoka a major arc, which saw her falling out with the Jedi Order. However, she became an important character in the post-Return of the Jedilandscape, making her live-action debut inThe Mandalorian.
