Later when ABC conducted an interview of Britney Spears with journalist Diane Sawyer, the Princess of Pop was treated as a villain and was mercilessly questioned about her former relationship with Timberlake.

When the interview resurfaced in The New York Times documentaryFraming Britney Spears(viaPageSix), Diane Sawyer was bashed for being outright cruel towards the singer. Spears was shown as the primary villain of her former relationship and Sawyer did not hold back from asking insensitive questions:
“You broke his heart, you did something that caused him so much pain, so much suffering. What did you do?”

The journalist also stated that Spears was setting the wrong example for children. TheBaby… One More Timesingle could not resist herself and started crying in the middle of the interview and asked for it to be stopped. Several years later, Spears took to a presently-deleted social media post to call out Sawyer for being so heartless towards her.

Britney Spears did not show any mercy to Diane Sawyer
Soon after Britney Spears’ conservatorship was terminated, she went full-on against everybody that was in her bad books. She called out Diane Sawyer for making her cry on national television in a long and now-deleted Instagram post.
“Do we dare forget the Diane Sawyer interview in my apartment almost 20 years ago? What was with the ‘You’re in the wrong’ approach?? Geeze… and making me cry??? Seriously though… I lived in my apartment for a year and never spoke to anyone… my manager put that woman in my home and made me talk to her on national television and she asked if I had a shopping problem!!! when did I have a shopping problem?”
When the 42-year-old singer accused her father and former conservator Jamie Spears of such an inhumane thing, the latter’s lawyer, Alex Weingarten, stated that Mr. Spears was uninvolved in the interview planning. The mother-to-2 did not hold herself back and openly stated that she was a“baby”back then but she can stand up for herself now.

Interestingly, the documentary also led the fans to call out Justin Timberlake for his actions. This led Justin Timberlake to publicly issue an apology to Britney Spears. The controversy got a new angle when Spears’ memoir,The Woman in Me,revealed that she had to go through an abortion because Timberlake did not want to be a father.
