According to prominent industry leaker Tom Henderson, who runs Insider Gaming, the next installment in the iconicDoomfranchise will be revealed soon at the Xbox Games Showcase.

The showcase will be streamed on the 9th of June online and will be followed by aCall of Duty Black Ops6 direct. According to rumors, the game will also be available on PS5 at launch, making it the first new multi-platform release since Xbox’s heavily rumored and likely soon-to-be-revealed shift in release strategy.

The third installment of the rebootedDoomTrilogy developed by ID Software has apparently been in development for about four years now, according to Inside Gaming. The setting for this game will reportedly be medieval-inspired. This isn’t surprising, as the past two games have had certain fantasy and medieval vibes, particularly for a few characters and enemy designs such as the Night Sentinels.

The protagonist, Doomslayer, has his origin story take place in medieval times, as shown in the flashbacks ofDoom Eternal.Hence, this might be a prequel to the last two games.
