The second episode of the series showed a glimpse of the past when John and Soren used to be together in the training facility. They both plan to escape the place, but John changes his mind. He tries to stop Soren from escaping too, but he has made up his mind. In the present time, Soren is living in a settlement known as Rubble with his wife and son. It’s a place where hundreds of floating asteroids are connected to each other using large pipes.
Soren-066 was a Spartan-II soldier of UNSC who was born in the Dwarka colony. Soren had a hard childhood; his mother died of an unknown sickness when he was just six years old. His stepfather didn’t do anything about it due to the fear of getting caught because of his illegal business. Fate did the same thing to Soren’s stepfather. He got contaminated with the same disease, and Soren watched his father die rather than getting him some help.
It’s clearly visible in the series that Soren has a deformed hand, and he blames UNSC for his condition. Well, this happened when he was given the muscular enhancement injections, along with thyroid implantation. But the results were not what everyone expected. His hand got deformed permanently, making it hard for him to use weaponry. So instead of field duty, he was given a desk job.
