The White Lotusis one of the best black comedies of the recent era, following an anthology format. Each installment revolves around the guests and employees in the titular resort chain. The critically acclaimed series is returning with its third installment due to air later this week, which will see the addition of Jason Isaacs to the cast.

In season 3, Isaacs is set to portray the Ratliff family patriarch Timothy Ratliff. The new episodes are set in the titular chain’s Thailand resort, with filming taking place on location in the country. However, Isaacs admitted it was difficult to shoot the series for one reason. During an interview withTime, Isaacs discussed his work on the upcoming third season, which was filmed in Thailand. However, the actor admitted to having difficulty with the setting, primarily because of its hot temperature.

By the end of each day, we’re just caked in sweat and makeup. You can peel your clothes off with a trowel. It melts your fillings. It would be churlish to complain, there are terrible things going on in the world, but we’ve all had enough.

Isaacs made the above statement, admitting that he hated filming the third season primarily because of how hot it was in Thailand during production.

Furthermore, the actor revealed that the cast was blasted with hair dryers between takes to remove sweat patches from the costumes. As a result, the cast felt even hotter, which explains why Isaacs was left rather frustrated with the temperature, especially since he also had to perform intimate scenes.

Aside from the hot temperature, Isaacs admitted to having a fulfilling creative experienceon the HBO series’ third season, crediting creator Mike White as the primary reason for it. The actor revealed that he enjoyed working with White on the series and described how the writer-director operates.

It’s an odd paradox that he both wrote it all so precisely and is also prepared to throw it all away and give it over to the actors and just stir the pot.

Isaacs made the above comment, describing White’s creative process with the showrunner being open to improvisation despite having meticulously crafted the scripts for each episode.

Moreover, Isaacs explained that White was very involved with the actors on set and continued to churn out new and even more funny lines of dialog for them to perform. Isaacs admitted that while the lines were sometimes outrageous, he trusted White to land the jokes in the edit, which only made the process more fun for him.
