Microsoft seized the opportunity and delivered an incredible event with many updates about its upcoming projects. Among them was the new installment of one of its flagship series, which wasn’t exactly what players were expecting but still received positive reactions.

Gears of War: E-Daywill be a complete prequel to the saga, showing how the Locust emerged for the first time. The game’s director clarified in a recent interview that everything will be entirely different, potentially disappointing some fans.
According to the Director of Gears of War: E-Day, Players Should Manage Their Expectations
Following the spectacular announcement ofGears of War: E-Day, many fans of the franchise have recovered their hopes thanks to this new entry in the franchise. The studio behind the game, The Coalition, confirmed that it will be a prequel, showcasing the first official appearance of the Locust.
Gears of War E-Day’s ‘Every Minute’ Claim is Unlike Anything the Franchise Has Attempted Before
The developers clarified that humanity lived in peace until these strange creatures emerged to bring total chaos. In a recentinterview, the game’s director, Matt Searcy, spoke about the players’ expectations and some details of what this highly anticipated title will include.
Firstly, the game will place players in a scenario never before seen in the saga, where peace reigns among humans until these new and terrifying enemies appear. You will also see how Marcus Fenix started his army career. Additionally, he mentioned that the gameplay itself will change, so it probably won’t be as classic as in previous installments.

The Popular IP Could Greatly Benefit From a Change of Perspective
Searcy continued to describe what this new game will entail, saying, “On the story, there’s a 14-year gap between E-Day and Gears 1. Even Gears Tactics was a few years into the war. E-Day isn’t a world that’s destroyed. It’s a beautiful world, with people who are in a time of peace.” This is quite surprising, because peace isn’t typically associated with these games.

However, it will force humans to adapt quickly or risk extinction. The director is confident in the studio’s capabilities, which is why he said, “We’re also going to change up gameplay stuff as well. We’ve worked on the franchise for ten years so we’ve got experience with revisiting enemy types, but also adding new weapons, and maybe even new enemies as well. We’ll do all that stuff.”
Players can rest assured, as the developers plan to add many new enemies to this particular installment.Gears of War: E-Dayis expected to be released sometime in 2025 and is without a specific confirmed date yet.

The trailer shown at the recent Xbox Games Showcase received very positive reviews from players and experts alike. This could become one of the most anticipated games for Microsoft’s console in a long time, potentially putting the franchise back at the top.Gears 5was released in 2019.

I’m a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
