The Acolytehas proven to be the most divisive entry in theStar Warsfranchise, with fans almost entirely turning their back on the High Republic series. Created by Leslye Headland, the series stars actress Dafne Keen in the role of Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon. The actress is primarily known for playing X-23 in 2017’sLogan.

Despite the criticisms aimed at Headland’s show, she deserves credit for putting the spotlight back on Keen. Following the show’s most recent fifth episode, fans took to social media to praise Keen’s performance in the series. At the same time, they also demanded the actress return to Marvel movies. Here is why Leslye Headland deserves credit for making Dafne Keen shine inThe Acolyte.

I say just bring her back as X-23 and she can grow into being full on Wolverine in the movies

I hope they bring her back to be Laura. She was great, i don’t care that it isn’t the version we saw, i just think she would kill it and the blue and yellow always looked better on X-23.

Literally should just let her play X-23 as the X-men enter the MCU, we need it!

Leslye Headland Deserves Credit For Making Dafne Keen Shine inThe Acolyte
The AcolyteshowrunnerLeslye Headlanddeserves at least some credit for recognizing the quality of Dafne Keen’s acting and casting her in the series. The showrunner has made several creative choices that have earned the ire ofStar Warsfans.
Among those decisions was the depiction of the Force-sensitive Witch coven and their creation of Mae and Osha. Similarly, the inclusion of Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi was also poorly received by fans alongside the handling of the Sith’s presence.
As a result of these creative choices, Headland hasfaced heavy criticism from fansfor disrespecting the existingStar Warscanon and mishandling the lore created by George Lucas. However, the casting of Keen as Jecki isn’t one of these poorly received creative choices.

Keen’s solid performance, along with her epic lightsaber moment in the fifth episode, will likely cement the character as a fan favorite, proving Headland got at least something right with the series. However, the fifth episode ends in tragedy for Keen’s character as Jecki is killed off in a duel with the mysterious Sith.
