Middleton later admitted editing the photo in her statement, as she apologized for“any confusion”caused over the family photo.“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,”she said in atweetbefore adding,“I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.”
Williams also stated how the picture has been the highlight in the UK while claiming that people there were highly eager to see Middleton. The show hosts Gayle King, Nate Burleson, and Tony Dokoupil further discussed thecontroversy, with the latter questioning the intentions behind editing the photo.
However, King and Burleson argued against the outrage, suggesting that photo editing is a common practice. They further suggested that the negative reaction to the image might have prompted Middleton to issue an apology.“We just wanna make sure she’s okay,”Gayle King said, emphasizing the public’s concern for the Princess of Wales’ well-being.
