Helldivers 2has had persistent performance issues on PC, and players have been vocal about their frustrations. As the game expanded since its release, players began experiencing frequent crashes, frame rate drops, and stuttering gameplay.
Community Manager Thomas “Twinbeard” Petersson recently addressed these concerns on Discord. Twinbeard confirmed that the team is actively investigating the high RAM usage suspected to be a major cause of the issues. Players have also been assured that Arrowhead has not forgotten about this issue and is actively investigating solutions.
Helldivers 2 Has Many Reported Problems Regarding Performance on PC
Answering a player question over on theHelldivers 2’s officialDiscord, Twinbeard clarified that the team was indeed aware of the growing amount of complaints regarding performance.
We’re digging deep in this and apart from various fixes, we have a theory of high RAM use we’re checking. I don’t think I’ll have time to elaborate on this in the same way as I did with the SPM, but we have NOT forgotten about it.
Interestingly, discussions on Reddit show that some players are experiencing unusually high CPU usage, which suggests thatthe problem might be more complexthan initially thought.
Many users reported their CPUs running at high temperatures while playing, with some hitting as high as 100 degrees Celsius. This has led to speculation that the game’s code may not be optimized for efficient CPU usage.
There is also speculation that the game’s anti-cheat system might add to the CPU load. Players have noted that disabling certain features or changing their system settings can help fix the issue, but these are only temporary fixes.

Despite these issues, the community remains hopeful that the development team will address these concerns promptly once they return from their break.

As mentioned by Twinbeard in the same message, the dev team forHelldivers 2, including him, is currently on vacation. Despite this, Arrowhead has continued to push out new content in the form of patches, new Major Orders,and even the Commando Rocket Launcher.

Shams Jorjani, the current CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios also brought this up recently on X where he mentioned that the dev team would be more active on social media platforms.
And answering a reply, he confirmed that the team’s next objective and focus was on the widespread performance issues that have been reported.

In the meantime, players have been sharing their own workarounds to mitigate the game’s demanding performance requirements. These include capping FPS, adjusting power usage settings, and even reapplying thermal paste to manage CPU temperatures better.
Helldivers 2‘s performance issues are under active investigation, with high RAM and CPU usage being primary suspects. The community manager’s reassurances are a step in the right direction, but players are eager for a concrete fix.
