While he’s no longer portraying the Mandalorian (due to commitments to Ridley Scott’s upcomingGladiatorsequel and the second season of HBO’sThe Last of Us), he has undeniably earned the title of America’s favorite dad through this TV series.

Despite his strong acting chops, we all know The Child, aka Grogu, stole the spotlight as Baby Yoda. But here’s the catch – Pascal spilled the beans that no one working on the show is allowed to call him Baby Yoda. Yet, he let it slip in a big interview.

There are two different versions – I can’t believe I said Baby Yoda,”he said in an off-guard voice.“That’s the first time”.He could practically feel the panic after blurting it out.“I gotta go,”he joked before settling back down, turning a near disaster into a light-hearted TV moment.

Norton always gets the actors to say more than they should. The TV host also playfully tried to make Pascal say Baby Yoda again, but the actor refrained from using it, saying with big laughs that he’s“Just following the rules.”

Why Disney Doesn’t Like Grogu to be Called Baby Yoda?

Baby Yoda fromThe Mandaloriancaptured the pop culture spotlight in 2019. At that time, his name wasn’t revealed, leading fans to affectionately referring to him as Baby Yoda (despite him being technically 50 years old). He looks similar to the iconicStar Warscharacter and also belongs to the same species.

Disney doesn’t like Grogu being called Baby Yoda because it creates confusion. Yoda is the name of the old Jedi Master who died during the events ofReturn of the Jedi.

He is a specific individual, not the name of the species.Referring to Grogu as Baby Yoda suggests he’s Yoda as a baby or Yoda’s child, which he isn’t.

Disney insists on using The Child or Grogu to avoid this confusion, but they know fans can’t resist cute nicknames and will likely keep calling him Baby Yoda.
