WarzonedeveloperRaven Softwarehas shared new details on an upcoming exfil feature coming with the Season 1 Reloaded update next week. The studio has attempted to clarify some key factors on the Covert Exfil feature after its announcement caused controversy within theCall of Dutycommunity.
In a new blog post on the Call of Duty website,Activisiongave fans the low down on next week’s mid-season update. Alongside a new multiplayer map, ranked play, event, and more, Warzone players were taken aback by the new Covert Exfil feature. According to the blog post, this feature will give players “a new way to escape.” Players will be able to exfil from Battle Royale matches early by purchasing one of five Covert Exfils from a Buy Station.

The feature aims to go hand-in-hand with the new Weapon Case feature, another new element coming to Warzone with Season 1 Reloaded. At the beginning of every match, a single Weapon Case will spawn, with a small search area indicated on the map for all players to see. If you grab the case, you’ll be marked on the map for all to see, so the aim is to either stay alive or use the new Covert Exfil to get out of there and claim your rewards.

Tied together, the new Covert Exfil feature makes a lot of sense. Having a bounty on your head for the entire game seems like a sure way to lose out on the rewards if you grab the Weapon Case right away. Whereas having the ability to exfil once you grab the case (albeit for a high price, meaning it’s still not an easy task to make it out alive) makes things a little more manageable, especially for the more casual players.
Unfortunately, a large number of players were left baffled by the upcoming feature. Even X’s (formerly known as Twitter) number one Call of Duty news account,CharlieIntelsaid they “do not know what the point of this is at all.” The initial reception from the community left Raven Software no choice but to step in and clarify some details.

Raven Software Explains Warzone’s New Covert Exfil Feature
Taking toXshortly after Call of Duty published its new blog post for Season 1 Reloaded, Raven Software explained how the new Covert Exfil won’t impact player’s stats.
“Successfully extracting via Covert Exfil does not count as a traditional win - rather as a separate stat - and will not count towards Champion’s Quest progress,” Raven Software explained. For those unaware, the Champion’s Quest allows players to end a game of Warzone with a tactical nuke, but they must first win 30 games within a single season, or 5 consecutive games. There will then be some grueling in-game tasks for players to complete to successfully end the game via tactical nuke.

However, Raven Software has now explained that not only will the new Covert Exfil’s not count towards player’s traditional wins, it also won’t count towards the Champion’s Quest Progress. More details on the feature and its “design intent” will be shared in next week’s patch notes, Raven Software says.
With a plethora of new features, operators, weapons, and more coming to Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 next week, there was sure to besomethingin there to upset the community.
