Rainbow Six Siegeis the latest franchise to take up the mantra of “The X Makes It Sound Cool” with their recent unveiling ofSiege X- a project that, at the very least, earns the use of that letter with one of its big promises.

At the Six Invitational,Ubisoftdid something that’s become a bit of an industry standard now - mostly for live-service games, but also for other titles:releasing a trailerto tease the upcoming reveal of another teaser.

Ubisoft assures fans that this is neither a sequel nor “just another update” - it represents thenext 10 years of Rainbow Six Siege content.

We’re expanding and reinforcing the very foundation of Siege to ensure it remains the pinnacle of tactical PvP first-person shooters. This means major graphical and audio upgrades, refined game-feel, and new ways to enjoy the game, all while staying true to what makes the core of Siege so special.

Right now, information on the contents of Siege X is fairly limited. Whether Siege X will live up to the hype Ubisoft set remains to be seen, though fans won’t have to wait long to find out exactly what’s in store.

Rainbow Six Siege has officially entered its 10th year of life, though the anniversary proper will have to wait until December. Ubisoft clearly likes how all that went down, and is hoping to breathe new life into the game for another decade.

Regardless of our apparent inability to call this an “update” to Rainbow Six Siege, this is clearly something Ubisoft has been planning for a while now.

And just a few days ago, Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, spoke to investors about “big plans” they had in store,specifically name-dropping Rainbow Six Siege.

Next year we’ll have big plans that will benefit Rainbow Six across all platforms, that’s focusing well, and that’s a key milestone in the gross plan for the company.

And, sooner than expected, we now have an idea of what those “big ideas” entail. Hopefully, the March 13th showcase will give us a clearer picture of what Siege X means for your average player.
