WihileTron: Catalyst was just announced earlier this month as the sequel to Tron: Identity, it looks like gameplay footage of it has leaked already courtesy of one playtester that doesn’t seem to care about NDA’s (non-disclosure agreement).

For those not familiar with the upcoming game based on the Tron license, it’s in development by Bithell Games, and is being published by Devolver Digital. Tron: Catalyst is an all-new, story-driven, isometric aciton-adventure title that’s set in the location of the Arq Grid that was introduced in Tron: Identity.

No checkered flags in sight, but still plenty of fun to be had!

Sadly, we don’t see any Light Cycle action or even combat, though we did get a glimpse of it in thereveal trailerearlier this month. If you’re one of the people that played Tron: Identity, you might have noticed the change in gameplay. Also developed by Bithell Games, Identity was a visual novel puzzle game that was released in 2023 on PC, Nintendo Switch. It’s set thirteen years after the Tron: Legacy film, where the player gets to play as Query, a program who investigates an explosion in The Repository where it leads the character to uncover secrets about the world the programs inhabit. As for the new Tron game in development, In Tron: Catalyst, you get to play as protagonist Exo, who is a highly resilient and resourceful program wielding a power known as the Glitch. Unlike Identity, Catalyst is a lot more action-oriented, and will feature Exo brandishing an Identity Disc and will be able to ride the Light Cycle.

Tron: Catalyst is set for release sometime in 2025 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
