Square Enix published a 20 minutes long gameplay video forTrials of Mana. The gameplay includes a party with Riesz as the protagonist, with Angela and Kevin as her companions. It shows some town exploration, and a ride onManaseries iconic dragon Flammie, revealing the world map’s remake look.
We also get a look at all of the game’s menus, including how to give specific strategies and tactics to the AI-controlled characters. Like the original SNES game, you can switch between the three characters at any time during battle. Sadly this remake doesn’t include the original’s multiplayer function.
This is gameplay from pretty late into the game when your party needs to defeat the Benevodons, powerful Mana beings, for story reasons I won’t spoil. It’s also interesting to note how the party is level 45, a level much higher than the average level at this story point in the original, showing how long and how rebalanced this remake is.
The gameplay sequence also has a long dungeon exploration sequence, showing how different the dungeons are now, actually including elevation elements seeing they’re in 3D, and platforming. The gameplay ends with the amazing fight against Fiegmund, the Water Benevodon. The Benevodons fights are really iconic and left a strong mark on anyone who playedSeiken Densetsu 3in the past. you may read more about how the boss was remade overat PlayStation blog.
