The Geofront Team who fan translatedThe Legend of Heroes: Zero no KisekiandAo no Kiseki, have officially partnered up with NIS America for official localization of the games:Trails From ZeroandTrails to Azure, bringing theCrossbell arcto PS4, Switch, and PC officially in the west.

The announcements were made at theNihon Falcom 40th anniversary concertorganized by NIS America and New Game Plus Expo.

In a blog post, The Geofront teamexplainedits own translation will serve as a basis for the official releases. The titles picked for the fan translation,Trails from ZeroandTrails to Azure, are now official. The fan patches' distribution has ceased as well. The post also includes heartfelt messages from Geofront members Gu4n, Zerker, Omgfloofy, Ribose, and Scott.

Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure- Crossbell games localization by NISA, Geofront, makes history

Fans have been awaiting for ten years since the release ofZeroandAoin 2010 and 2011 on PSP in Japan for the games to get localized. These past two years, The Geofront team released mods for the games' PC versions, which not only added an English translation, but also remastered the games and added several quality of life improvements.

It’s incredible to see the team partnered up with NIS America so the work they have done so far can help pave the way officially for the series and support its expansion in North America and Europe.

It’s unconfirmed for now, but it’s very likely the English official versions ofZeroandAzurewill be based on the 2019 PS4Kaiports, which were themselves based on theEvolutionPS Vita ports that add full voice acting.

Falcom president Toshihiro Kondoteased theKaiversions games would be coming west, and I alsoasked him about itduring our chat before the PS4 ports were officially announed in Japan. (full interview).

In a touching video message during the concert, Toshihiro Kondo most notably shared once again how he clearly remember fans asking him for Crossbell back at that San Francisco event he participated in years ago.

This is definitely not an announcement I expected to see, and this is particularly hype for the future of the series. Everything’s possible now, and I believe inAdol joiningSmash Brosharder than ever before.

Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, Trails Into Reverie, Nayuta Boundless Trailsrelease dates

Trails from Zerois scheduled to launch on PS4, Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store, GOG, and Steam in Fall 2022.

Trails to Azurewill launch in 2023 on PS4, Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store, GOG, and Steam.

The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trailswill launch in 2023 on PS4, Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store, GOG and Steam. The game will also include an English dub according toKoch Media France.

Trails Into Reveriewill also launch in 2023 on the same platforms. It’ll also have an English dub.

Personally speaking, I believe Falcom will not release aKisekigame either in 2022 and 2023. We should be gettingYs X, Ys Vremake, or some other games. So afterThe Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kisekireleases on July 18, 2025 in Japan, it’ll be the only game left to localize. Possibly for a 2024 English release, and then the series will be up to date in North America and Europe. Assuming my guesses are correct.
