London is about to be destroyed in a video game for the umpteenth time, as Tides of Annihilation, one of the games announced during the February 2025Sony State of Play, is retelling the Arthurian legends in a post-apocalyptic setting.
Tides of Annihilation quickly grabbed the attention ofBaldur’s Gate 3fans, as the voice of its protagonist, Gwendolyn, was clearly being done by Jennifer English,who portrayed Shadowheart. Turns out playing a party member in the most acclaimed video game of all time is worth a lot when it comes to new gigs.

Tides of Annihilation’s debut trailer (seen now on the official PlayStation YouTube channel) was shown during the February 2025 Sony State of Play, though it was later confirmed to be coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S, with no solid release date given.
Tides of Annihilation Brings Back The Knights Of The Round Table As Summons
Tides of Annihilation is set in London after it was devastated by an alien invasion. The player takes on the role of Gwendolyn, who can call on the powers of theKnights of the Round Tablein battle.
The combat in Tides of Annihilation has a lot in common withAstral Chain, with the player summoning spirits to fight alongside them in battle. In terms of aesthetic, it resemblesForspoken, with its fantasy and modern setting aesthetic merged together.

On top of that, there were giant enemies reminiscent of the ones inShadow of the Colossus, with platforming to boot. The references to the Holy Grail and Gwendolyn herself means that the Arthurian roots aren’t just for show and will be part of the story.
It’s a shame there wasn’t more of Tides of Annihilation during theState of Play, as it was one of the more impressive games at the show. However, the lack of a release window means players could be waiting a long time for more news about Gwendolyn’s adventure.
