Attack on Titanhas featured a variety of different characters, all helming unique designs because of Hajime Isayama’s attention to detail. While he has never been too fond of the artistic prowess he possesses, there are times when the mangaka shines out. The way the series is drawn, it has a combination of sequences that can scar the reader through disturbing imagery or make them weep with how emotional things can get.

Sometimes, these sketches can escalate, frightening even Isayama himself. While that may come as a surprise to most, in the ways he was drawing the Titans, some of them haunted him and because of how much he loved to draw them, certain changes were to be made.
Hajime Isayama’s Toughest Titan
Hajime Isayamaadmitted during an interview withFebrithat he has a habit of drawing Titans in a rush with little care put into them. However, there were times when he had to break the cycle and put in all his might to perfect the designs to further complementAttack on Titan. Many times the mangaka has openly talked about Reiner Braun being his favorite character. So it is only fair that his Titan also gets special attention.
The Armored Titans in particular are very robot-like, so they’re harder to draw than even a mob of Titans, but I do have fun doing it.

Isayama didn’t let him become the exception, giving the same exquisite treatment to every Armored Titan. The mangaka couldn’t help but fawn over how detailed the titans were. They all had features that were robotic in nature, giving them a different approach than the rest.

As a result, theAttack on TitanMangaka found it easier to draw a group of Titans with contrastingly different designs than one that consisted of the Armored Titans. However, that was all worth it because of how much he enjoyed drawing them.
Titan Versions of the Main Cast
During the interview, Hajime Isayama also revealed that while he was working on many Titans that featured in the series, some of them were based on people who were actively part ofAttack on Titan.Tetsurō Araki, the director of the series, got his own Titan.
Yuki Kaji, the voice actor for Eren, Yui Ishikawa, the voice actor for Mikasa, and Marina Inoue, the voice behind Armin all got their own Titan versions also created by the artist. He talked about how when creating these four, he put in extra care and attention to detail.

“No one’s going to root for a flawless idol”: Hajime Isayama Saved Levi From Definite Doom by Making Him a Short Character in Attack on Titan
One thing he kept in mind was that because of how highly Isayama regarded the four of them, he couldn’t afford to slack off. If he were to take the easy way out, it would have felt almost disrespectful to the people who brought his ideas to life.
