And yet, that’s not the reason why she didn’t return to the show despite not retiring. Rather, the real reason for her absence was because she realized she was“done with that chapter”of her life.

But whileVictoria’s Secretwas one of her earliest companions on this journey, the supermodel decided to let go after working with them from 1999 to 2006.
In an interview withRefinery29, the 44-year-old fashion model came clean about her decision to not re-sign with the brand while sharing her experience of working with them. She said,“I love working with them. When I started I was 19. When I got to 27, I kind of felt like there were other things I wanted to do. It was 80 percent of my income when I decided to not re-sign with them.”
Continuing, she made sure to emphasize the fact that the apparel brand always treated her with respect and compassion and made sure to workin her best interests, saying,“They were always very respectful. They knew that I didn’t really enjoy being in G-strings on the runway, so they always gave me a cape. I could have continued maybe three or five more years there.”
However, after working all this time in the same field, Bündchen feltthe need to improvise. To say the least, she wanted to start a new chapter in her life and career, and for that, she was willing to leave one of her earliest supporting brands behind.“I felt like I had done that chapter. When you say no to something, you say yes to something else,”Bündchen explained.

But, that’s not all, for while Bündchen refused to go back to working with the brand, she didn’t give up on modeling altogether. Rather, the only thing related to modeling that faced the boot from her were runways.

While the buzz around her madly-anticipated return to all thoseVictoria’s Secretshows couldn’t be louder, Gisele Bündchen firmly revealed her plans earlier this year that she is no longer interested in walking the runways. That said, she is also not interested in retiring from the profession altogether but is rather just busy exploring her creative side a bit more. As she said toO Globo:
Never said I would retire, only that I would not parade anymore. I’ll never stop working. My desire is to keep creating until the day I die. I love the creativity that exists within me. I want to learn new things. And life will show what will be next, you will see.
