Taylor Sheridan took the television industry by storm when he came out with his neo-Western drama series,Yellowstone.Currently in its fifth season, the series has been met with unending praise from the critics as well as the fans. However, there is one actor out there who isn’t too fond of the show despite being a part of the franchise – Sam Elliot.

Sam Elliott stars in the prequel series ofYellowstone,title1883,as Shea Brennan. While the actor absolutely loves1883,he has been quite vocal about his disdain for the O.G. show. He has outright stated that he isn’t a fan ofYellowstonedespite both the shows being created by Taylor Sheridan. Despite this, the powerhouse filmmaker wants to collaborate with Sam Elliott again.
Sam Elliott Gets Brutally Candid aboutYellowstone
During his appearance on theWTFpodcast,Sam Elliottexposed his true feelings aboutYellowstone. He started off by stating that even though he wasn’t a fan of the show, he still loved everyone on the cast, includingKevin Costnerwho plays the role of John Dutton III.
“I ended up going down the cocaine and heroin route”: The Yellowstone Star Who Almost Met the Same Fate as His Dear Friend Heath Ledger
He even compared the neo-Western drama to the 80s television series,Dallaswhich ran from 1978-1991.
Elliott stated,

I’m not a ‘Yellowstone’ fan. I don’t watch ‘Yellowstone.’ I love (Kevin) Costner. There’s a lot of good people on the cast, a few of them I’ve worked with before. Nothing against any of them, but it’s just too much like f—ing ‘Dallas’ or something, for me.Too much of that for me.
Of course, both1883andYellowstonewere created byTaylor Sheridanbut according to Elliot,1883is the“good one.”TheRoad Houseactor also went as far as to say that the show“tainted” 1883.He told this toTaste of Countrystating,

‘Yellowstone’ is all over this. We’re tainted by ‘Yellowstone’, which, on some level, I can’t stand. Because I think 1883 stands alone and will. Once it comes out, people are gonna say, ‘Oh, yeah — the only connection there is that it got John Dutton to Montana.’
Clearly, Elliott does not holdYellowstonein high regard. Despite this, if given the chance, Sheridan would love to work with him again.

Taylor Sheridan Wants to Work with Sam Elliott Again
In an interview withDeadline, Sheridan was asked if he would like to work withIsabel May(Elsa Dutton) and Elliott sometime in the future.
To this, Sheridan replied with nothing but praise for the two actors and called May a remarkable actor as well as a generational talent. He added that he would love to find new projects to work with her on and the same goes for Elliott as well.

“I’m a f**king wreck after six months”: Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan’s Merciless Schedule is Something Even Kevin Costner Will Bow Down To
Sheridan stated,
Obviously, I would love that. She’s a remarkable actor, a generational talent, and I would love to find other things to do. Same with Sam.
He further added that Elliott is a person that he has admired for most of his life and to get to work with him is a treat on its own.
There’s an icon, someone I’ve admired my whole life, and to get a chance to work with him is a treat, just really special.
Elliott did great work as Shea Brennan in the prequel and Sheridan, too, directed the character and the show to perfection. If the duo were to reunite for a new project, we are almost certain that it will be yet another powerhouse!
