Amidst the celebrations of one of the greatest hits of her career, Mariah Carey had to come out and defend Spotify. As fans are aware, Spotify has a Wrapped feature where they give a summary of the listening habits of millions of music fans. It also sometimes features video messages from the artists sending a holiday wish to their most avid listeners.

Problems started this year when fans of Carey complained that the footage used in the video message featuring the legendary singer was made with AI. Denying those claims Maria Carey took to posting on X, where she explained how she is not a fan of those, hence there is no chance of her image being AI.

However, the fans started complaining that the 2024 version of the singer’s Spotify Wrapped holiday message was made by AI. It got to the point where it even reached the singer’s ears, and she felt the need to clarify the situation.

As reported byEntertainment Weekly, the Queen of Christmas posted an explainer on X, where she stated, it was just bad lighting and red lips. She was in fact astounded by the fact that that was all it took for people to doubt the legitimacy of the video. According to her, this is exactly why she is“not a fan of either of those things.”

Featuring her iconic songs likeAll I Want For Christmas is You, Silent Night,Jesus Born on This Day,O Holy Night, and so on, the album has become immortal as one of the best holiday albums ever.

Mariah Carey Wanted To Be The Sole Queen of Christmas

It is interesting that although Mariah Carey did not want to record the holiday album initially as she didn’t feel“from a strategic point of view, that it was time to do something like that,”her attachment to the title of Queen of Christmas has grown. In fact, she wanted to be the only one who could use the title, as perEntertainment Weekly.

However, Elizabeth Chan, who is an exclusive Christmas singer, blocked her attempts to trademark the title in 2022, and Carey lost the battle in front of the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. This also benefited other holiday singers like Darlene Love, as now everybody can use the honorific without a care.
