One of the recent sensations from the cinema world, Sydney Sweeney is quite unhappy with the not-so-decent comments she gets through the internet. The Internet is a double-edged sword they say after all. Pretty famous for playing the role of Cassie Howard in the 2019 drama seriesEuphoria,American actress Sydney Sweeney has lately attracted a lot of fame.

Not justEuphoria, Sweeney also did a commendable job in the 2021 drama series,The White Lotus. She was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for playing the role of Olivia Mossbacher inThe White Lotus. However, despite her professional success, she opens up about how unprofessional her DMs look and how she is frightened by such activities.
The Internet is Not a Safe Space for Sydney Sweeney
Social media platforms have brought people closer than ever. Almost every human being is using platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X and whatnot. What’s very interesting about these social media platforms is that they make reaching out to celebrities easier. However, this results negatively too.

Sweeney really finds it disrespectful and unsafe to stay active on the internet due to the vulgarity that she is facing regularly. While answering a fan’s question, the actress said (viaindy100):
“My DMs are not a safe space. There is no respect in those.”

Sweeney came clean on the fact that she is hurt by people’s mindset towards her body. Such discourse over the appearance of celebrities is both shameful and disrespectful.
Sydney Sweeney Has Faced Such Behavior Before
Although it can’t be denied that Sydney Sweeney’s official Instagram account has a handful of bold pictures of her, objectifying her or judging her is a shameful act. This is not the first time Sweeney has faced such atrocity as back in 2022,Dmarge.comhad reported that she had received a DM which read:
“I’mfree every day if you are also free every day please call me so we can hang outevery day.”

Such creepy DMs would worry anyone. Sweeney has also previously revealed in an interview withGlamour UKthat she would intentionally cover herself up when she was younger because she did not feel comfortable in her own skin.
There are numerous instances when celebrities have become the targets of stalkers or victims of some kind of leaks, but being disrespectful to celebrities in DMs is a whole new level of indecency. Having their favorite stars around is always enjoyable but fans should truly respect the boundaries and not let go of basic etiquette when talking to them, no matter how good they look.
