Neftlix’sThe Witcherset the TV world ablaze when it launched last in 2019. So much so, in fact, that the streaming giantalmost immediately announced that it had ordered a second season. And while we’ve onlytoday started to see our first images of what the upcoming season ofThe Witcherwill have in store, Netflix seems as though it has already started on working on the series past this slate of episodes as well.
Spotted byRedanian Intelligence,The Witcherseason three has now appeared on the officialWriters Guild of America’s database. Just what does this mean, exactly? Well, it basically makes clear that Netflix has already greenlit the show’s third season, even though it hasn’t made such an announcement public yet. For it to appear on this database, it would need to have been made official, which makes the listing viable.
As for the details that are offered up on the third season judging by this listing, well, there’s nothing really to glean. Lauren S. Hissrich is still slated as the executive producer ofThe Witcher, much as she was and is for the series' first two seasons. To see her attached to the third season here really isn’t a shock whatsoever.
As for when this season might premiere though, well, 2022 seems the most likely. For those unaware, the second season ofThe Witcheris still in production right now and isn’t slated to release until later next year. Given the fact that season three seems to have been ordered so far in advance though, it stands to reason that filming on it could begin far sooner when compared to season two.
No matter when season three ofThe Witcherdoes arrive though, one thing is for sure: Netflix has absolutely doubled-down on this property. In addition to the three seasons ofThe Witcherthat are now apparently coming, a prequel series calledThe Witcher: Blood Originis in the pipeline as well. Best of all,Blood Originis rumored to be looking to castAquaman’sJason Momoain the central protagonist role, too.
