Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield defined theSpider-Manfranchise years before the superhero’s introduction in the MCU. Maguire’sSpider-Man 1, 2, 3and Garfield’sThe Amazing Spider-Manseries made the webslinger famous to the global audiences, long before Tom Holland made his Spider-Man debut inCaptain America: Civil War.

As such, fans were ecstatic when both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield made cameos in Tom Holland’sSpider-Man: No Way Home. The movie brought all the on-screen Spider-Men together for the first time, turning it into nothing short of a historic feat.
Moreover, it also opened the way for more potentialSpider-Manprojects featuring Maguire or Garfield in the future. Now one would think that such milestone features would mean milestone paychecks for the actors involved. The reality, however, was that for a movie that collected over $1.95 billion, the OG Spider-Men’s paychecks were criminally low.

Although rumors were surging for a while, fans were still stunned at the appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield inSpider-Man: No Way Home. The first multiversal Spider-Man meet-up came with its fair share of nostalgia and heartwarming moments.
It also gave strength to the different Peter Parkers in a gut-wrenching situation that no one but them could understand the depths of. Interestingly, though, Garfield went above and beyonddenying the rumors claiming that they would be featuring inNo Way Home.

Although most weren’t convinced by that, their appearance in the movie still riled up the fans. As a result, fans assumed that it must have taken a hefty paycheck for them to even consider donning the Spidey suit again. However, the reality is far from it.
According to a report byStyle Casterboth Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield received $1 million for their stunning feature inNo Way Home. WhileTom Hollandearned around $4-$5 million in the same movie.

What is interesting about this is the fact thatTobey Maguirehas always been the highest-paid Spider-Man with $4 million for the first movie, and $17.5 and $15 million for the next two. Garfield on the other hand, is known for being the lowest-paid webslinger with only around $500,000 for the first and $1 million for the second movie.
The criminally low pay both of them received for a movie that collected over $1.95 billion at the box office (Box Office Mojo) has shocked many. However, now with rumors floating around about both Garfield andMaguire reappearing inSpider-Man 4, it’ll be interesting to see how much of a hike they could gain.

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are rumored to feature inSpider-Man 4
After it was confirmed that a fourthSpider-Manmovie was under development, it didn’t take long for rumors to start aboutAndrew Garfieldand Tobey Maguire wearing their masks again.
While Garfield vehemently denied the rumors, he was aware enough to understand thatnobody would take his words seriouslywhen it came to this. He said something similar toGQ Menin a recent interview when asked about his appearance in the upcoming installment.
I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.
Well, he was right, but there is a very good reason for it. One of them being the fact that he has stated toEsquire Magazinepreviously that he would definitely be back in the suit if he gets the right opportunity.
I would 100% come back [as Spider-Man] if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.
He further noted that what he loves most about the movies is the joy it brings to the fans. He likes being part of something that brings joy, as then he gets“joyful in return”.

Tobey Maguire though, might be harder to negotiate with. Andrew Garfield noted in the same interview that he actually didn’t think that Maguire would agree to return as Spider-Man again.
When I heard that he was kind of leaning in I thought it was either going to be the greatest thing in the world or the worst thing in the world. I am so grateful because it was the most joyful thing ever.
At any rate, fans seem to be leaning hard on the rumors but even they agree that both actors would need a significant pay hike to consider doingSpider-Man 4. Although it is hard to say whether the hopes of millions of fans across the world would come to fruition, they seem excited about it anyway.
