Colin Farrell delivered one of the most brilliant episodes with his performance asThe Penguinin the season finale of the show, depicting a deliciously evil character that fans are disgusted by and rooting for at the same time.

AsThe Penguincame to a close, fans and audiences, who had so far been rooting for Oswald Cobb, have come face to face with the fact that he might not be the best person to care for Gotham City’s common folk, especially given how he treated his own mother.
The Penguin failed to keep his promise to Francis
Oswald Cobb and his mother Francis had a complicated relationship, to say the least. While it felt like the characters were a loving mother and son duo, there were a slew of revelations in Episode 8 that redefined the way audiences understood the relationship. For starters, Francis Cobb was well aware of the fact that Oswald was responsible for the death of his brothers. Further, Oswald and Francis might not have as healthy a relationship as it was first depicted in the show.
“I don’t necessarily buy it”: Colin Farrell Isn’t Entirely Convinced With ‘The Penguin’ Finale For 1 Sole Reason
It all comes to heed when Francis enters a vegetative state, which is caused when she decides to confront Oswald about the deaths of his brothers. However, breaking the promise that he had made to her, Oswald decides to euthanize his mother when she is no longer functioning, feeding his own selfish desires rather than looking out for what his mother wants him to do.
Colin Farrell is finally a version of The Penguin that can fight The Batman
The Penguin that fans saw inThe Batmanwas still starting out his criminal career. However, after the finale,The Penguinhas now turned into a formidable force on the streets of Gotham, and has the money and influence to combat Batman.
After The Penguin Finale, It’s Obvious Who Will Be the Main Villain for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2 and It Won’t be Mr. Freeze
The Batman Part IIcould feature The Penguin as a secondary antagonist, helping whoever is trying to take down Batman. Further, the character himself could serve as the chief antagonist of the sequel, given that his shake-up of the underworld of Gotham had surely caused the GCPD and Batman to take notice. Further, Selina Kyle getting in touch with her half-sister might also cause Batman to take an interest in Sofia Gigante.
It remains to be seen who will be the antagonist for The Dark Knight in his sophomore outing. There is a slew of choices thatMatt Reevescould introduce in the universe, but audiences know that it will be limited to Batman’s more grounded villains, as opposed to the likes of Killer Croc, King Shark, or The Gentleman Ghost.
