Comic book fans frequently navigate through a sea of online rumors, especially when it comes to upcoming movies. A recent example is the chatter surrounding the villain in James Gunn’sSupermanreboot.

The movie explores Clark Kent/Superman’s internal conflict. He is a reporter in Metropolis with extraordinary powers. Born on the planet Krypton, he was raised by the Kent family on Earth, giving him both Kryptonian heritage (his alien origin and powers) and a human upbringing (the values he learned from his adoptive parents).
The movie delves into how he grapples with these two identities. Recently, rumors have also circulated about Ultraman appearing as the villain in the film, but Gunn quickly clarified these reports.

Director James Gunn Debunks Ultraman Rumors inSupermanReboot
Don’t get caught up in the speculation about Ultraman—James Gunnhas set the record straight himself. The director recently took to social media to dispel rumors and confirmed that Lex Luthor will indeed be the main antagonist in the upcomingSupermanfilm. The DCU CEO wrote onThreads:
“The primary protagonist of Superman is, shockingly, Superman. The main villain of Superman is, shockingly, Lex Luthor. I don’t know where all the stuff is coming from that it’s something other than this. There are so many stories coming out every day it’s difficult to deal with and everytime I strike something down I’m giving it attention. So, I’ll say again, don’t believe anything unless you see it HERE (& why would you want to know everything before the movie comes out anyway?)”

For hardcore Superman fans, it should not be surprising as Lex Luthor has always been Superman’s top foe for generations. But there was talk about other characters like Ultraman showing up in the film.
However, industry insider MyTimeToShineH has a different perspective. He claimed to have seen proof that Ultraman is in the movie. He believes that Gunn’s words didn’t completely rule out Ultraman’s role.

The insider suggested that since Gunn didn’t explicitly state that Ultraman isn’t in it, then maybe he’s in there somewhere (just not as the main arch-nemesis).
Alright Ultraman is in the movie for sure just saw visual proof. Gunn does not make himself look good here with all the lieshttps://t.co/HmTL9R8c9j

James Gunn’sSupermanMay Give A New Dimension to Lex Luthor
Nicholas Houltjoining the Superman movie as Lex Luthor brings something fresh to the character. Despite Lex being in many films before, Hoult’s version promises to be different.
There’s talk about a new version of Lex Luthor, nicknamed ‘Apex,’ in the casting info (viaScreen Rant). In the comics, Apex Lex is a tough character, part-human and part-Martian, able to take on Superman physically. Is Hoult playing this version? If so, then it would add an interesting twist, showing Lex as not just smart, but also strong.
While Lex Luthor is a well-known character, the rest of the cast promises a new look at theSupermanstory.David Corenswetwill portray Superman, whileRachel Brosnahantakes on the role of Lois Lane.
The inclusion ofclassic comic book characterslike Green Lantern (rumored to be played byNathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) spices up the hero lineup, suggesting an exciting team-up ahead.
