The Last of Usspeedrunner Anthony Caliber has done what he thought was the “impossible” in his latest endeavor into the post-apocalyptic world. As a full-time streamer on Twitch, Caliber has been speedrunning Naughty Dog games like The Last of Us, its DLC Left Behind, The Last of Us 2, The Last of Us Remake, and Uncharted with a huge TLOU guidance behind him, cheering his every move in anticipation.
This time, Caliber took on the notoriously difficult task of speedrunning through The Last of Us in grounded mode and, in the process, set a new world record for his determination and hard work.

The Last Of Us’ Isabela Merced Wanted To Play Part 2 Over Watching On YouTube
Isabela Merced decided to play The Last of Us Part 2 instead of just watching a playthrough on YouTube.
Calling it “one of the best speedruns of my career” on his Twitter/Xaccount, Caliber has beaten any previous runs held for this particular mode. Coming in at a whopping and world-breaking time of 2:47:55, Caliber was able to analyze and break down hislast attemptat the run so that this time it would be much faster.

By skipping parts that other players would take time with, he was able to reserve time and drop his previous time by 3 minutes by bypassing things like not picking up the flamethrower, snatching loot as late as he could whilst running, and other time-saving techniques.
Caliber states towards the end of the video that he thought he was going to die in the hospital section of the game. “Up until The Ranch, the run was basically perfect. I couldn’t pick out anything.” he continues, “I was hitting these paces, like when I split, and then you see what time you got when leaving that area, and numbers like that have never been hit before.”
It’s likely Caliber will go on to break this world record too, as he pushes himself to go even further by breaking down his current speedrun to see how it can be done quicker and finding ways to get through areas smoother. It’s incredible to watch.
For those who would like to follow in his footsteps in trying to beat The Last of Us on Grounded, Caliber’sin-depth videosoffer insights and tricks that allow others to learn from them. Who knows, maybe you could be the next world record holder?
