It’s safe to say thatHelldivers 2‘s narrative has got the players hooked but it seems like players won’t get to explore Super Earth in a single-player story mode. This has been confirmed by Arrowhead Game Studios’ new CEO, Shams Jorjani as he revealed that the primary goal at Arrowhead is to make only “great co-op” games.

It makes sense why they want to focus on that sinceHelldivers 2‘s cross-play co-op gameplay is one of the main reasons why players enjoy the game. Even with random players, the game is quite entertaining. On top of that, every squad member plays a crucial role on the battlefield. Jorjani has also stated that he believes Arrowhead has the potential to reach Blizzard Entertainment’s level.
Arrowhead’s new CEO seemingly confirms that players will never get a single-player mode inHelldivers 2
Former Arrowhead CEO and now Chief Creative OfficerJohan Pilestedtandnew CEO Shams Jorjanirecently appeared for an interview withGamesIndustry.bizto talk about their popular co-op game,Helldivers 2. During the conversation, Jorjani seems to have confirmed that Arrowhead will always focus on co-op games rather than games with a story mode,
The goal of the studio is to make really great co-op games. We really want to turn Arrowhead into a flagship studio, where people who want to make these kind-of games say to themselves: ‘I want to work at Arrowhead.’ When we were growing up, we really wanted to work at Blizzard, it was one of the bucket list places to work at. I think Arrowhead has the potential to be that.

It would certainly be exciting to see a single-player mode inHelldivers 2but the co-op mode is the reason whyHelldivers 2gained popularity in the first place. While players have the option to go on solo missions, it is always better to have a full squad to work as a team. Hopefully, in the future, Arrowhead can work on co-op story mode but at the moment, their priorities are different.

Johan Pilestedt has no plans to sell the company
Further in the interview, Johan Pilestedt explained that they’re proud of being an independent studio and they have no plans of selling it. He also explained that they were not interested in the money,
We don’t run the business for monetary gain – The humbleness and the desire to just make great games is the only reason we exist.

Upon release,Helldivers 2was a massive hit but over the past few weeks, the game has slowly lost its charm. With the hype finally fading away, more and more players are now getting bored of the game. If Arrowhead wishes to keep the players hooked, they need to add new gear, weapons, and Stratagems to the game.
Helldivers 2is available on Windows and PlayStation 5.
