Of the first slate of releases here in the opening months of 2019, Ubisoft’sThe Division 2was widely regarded as one of the titles that would likely do the best at market. After its first week of availability, those projections seem to be holding true so far.
Over in the UK,The Division 2made its debut as the best-selling video game of the week. As the only major new release of the week, it’s not shocking that the game was able to achieve this feat. That said, it might not be all good initial signs for Ubisoft.
According toGamesIndustry.biz,The Division 2’slaunch sales in the UK were just 20% of the launch sales of the originalThe Division. That said, since digital sales aren’t taken into account with the UK sales chart, it’s hard to know just what the exact disparity between the two games might be. Plus,The Division 2released formally on a Friday compared to the original’s Tuesday launch date.
As for other notable appearances on this week’s list, Rockstar has capture second and third respectively withRed Dead Redemption 2andGrand Theft Auto V. Last week’stop seller inDevil May Cry 5meanwhile has dropped down into sixth while Bandai Namco’sOne Piece: World Seekerdebuted all the way down at 28th.
