Through Jacob’s journey of surviving the Biophage outbreak, players will be given a few weapons to help in different situations. Some of these weapons are given throughThe Callisto Protocol’s story, while others must be found and created at 3-D printing stations scattered around Callisto.

Aside from the shiv and crowbar, all the other weapons can be upgraded, increasing their ammo capacity, damage, and stability. The GRP and Stun Baton has more intricate upgrades, but all weapons can be upgraded to be viable throughout the game. Here are all the weapons in the game ranked so you know which ones to look out for and add to your arsenal.

Jacob obtains the Crowbar quickly after the outbreak in prison. This weapon is stolen from another prisoner and used at the beginning of the game to introduce you to The Callisto Protocol’s unique melee combat.

Crowbar Menu Item Description

You will only have this weapon for a short time, and it can’t be upgraded. This weapon only does a bit of damage, and early fights with it will take much longer as you don’t have a gun for critical shots.

The Shiv is the first weapon Jacob is given after agreeing to help Elias escape his cell. While this is a weapon Jacob will be required to use throughout his journey, it’s not used the same as other weapons on this list. The shiv is used whenever you sneak up on an enemy and do a stealth backstab, instantly killing the enemy.

Elias Giving Jacob The Shiv

With the ability to kill instantly, the shiv is arguably the strongest weapon on this list, but its limited uses make its incredible power mostly useless until a specific section of the game. The shiv is also used to open up chests and power boxes, making it just as practical as it is deadly.

7Skunk Gun

The Skunk Gun is the first optional weapon you’re able tofind in Chapter 4, Habitat. This weapon is a two-shot one-handed shotgun. Getting it early will help diversify the loot you find and collect more ammo in general from the randomized loot boxes. The Skunk Gun costs 800 credits to make and is great for early situations in which enemies get too close.

The Skunk Gun’s limited ammo capacity makes it a worthwhile weapon early on, but as you face more enemies at once, it will quickly fall off even with its upgraded magazine. Nevertheless, it is efficient as a critical shot weapon, with its wide bullet spread and high close-range damage.

6Tactical Pistol

The Tactical Pistol isfound in Chapter 6, Below, and only requires a bit of exploration to find. This weapon acts as a more traditional pistol than the Hand Cannon, firing much faster but with weaker shots. This pistol, with its stability upgrade, is great for firing shots rapidly at small groups of enemies that are about to transform.

With the additional ammo upgrade and the burst fire, this weapon can also be a good option for taking down the larger enemies that appear later in the game. The Tactical Pistol is a great option for weakening enemies at a distance or unloading into closer enemies with a ton of bullets.

5Stun Baton

The Stun Baton is the upgradable melee weapon Jacob gets soon after the crowbar in the first chapter. Melee combat is heavily focused on in The Callisto Protocol, so it makes sense the Stun Baton has a ton of upgrades. With a few upgrades, the Stun Baton can be incredibly effective in the early sections of the game or when fighting one-on-one.

When using combos right and getting critical shots, the Stun Baton can be incredibly efficient and uses only a minimal amount of bullets for critical shots. While the Baton can be upgraded to kill enemies quickly, it does fall off when fighting groups, as the melee system does not work against more than one enemy at a time.

4Hand Cannon

The Hand Cannon is the first gun that Jacob gets through the story early on. This weapon deals high amounts of damage and has a low fire rate. With this being your first weapon, it’s easy to start upgrading it immediately, and it can quickly become a weapon you would want to use for the rest of the game.

Its additional ammo upgrade and alt-fire exploding bullets can make this weapon one of the heaviest hitters in your arsenal. The Hand Cannon is also an excellent option for critical shots, as its great damage will maximize your damage output within a combo.

Jacob Upgrading Stun Baton Damage To Level 2

The Riot Gun is another weapon given to Jacob by Dani in the main story. This is a larger shotgun that offers a more focused but still wide bullet spread from each shot. With a decent amount of ammo from the start, the Riot Gun is a perfect option for dealing with groups of enemies in tight areas.

This weapon is best used as crowd control, thinning out a group of enemies before taking them on one-on-one. Thanks to the spread and the damage, the Riot Gun also excels in shooting the limbs off of enemies. This weapon can get a bonus to bullet damage along with explosive rounds, eventually having it deal incredible amounts of damage that can easily wipe out regular enemies.

The GRP is an arm brace-like attachment Jacob gets for his right arm. With this, Jacob is able to push or pull enemies as long as the GRP is charged. The GRP has many upgrades to make it charge faster, hold more battery, or throw enemies further.

The GRP is perfect for controlling enemies and can be used to single out enemies for proper combos. The GRP can also be game-breakingly powerful when using environmental hazards. By throwing enemies into hazards or off platforms, enemies can be instantly killed. By upgrading the GRP, you can make many fights feel trivial by throwing enemies to instant death.

1Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle suffers only because you may get it towards the very end of the game, and it can be incredibly expensive to build and upgrade. Despite the cost, the Assault Rifle can be upgraded and used against powerful enemies to make even the final boss a simple fight.

The high rate of fire and damage makes any situation come down to your ammo supply. By saving the ammo of this weapon for any boss-like monster, you can quickly kill them with less than a full magazine of ammo. When looting Assault Rifle ammo, you’ll, on average, find 20 bullets, which is more than enough to fight off multiple enemies. Its alt-fire option further makes it do more damage and makes sure you never waste a precious bullet, making this avery worthwhile weapon to find.
