Best for players who want a 4-player sci-fi co-op. If you liked FTL and Deep Rock Galactic, then you’ll find a home on Void Crew’s ship.

If a developer threwFTLandSea of Thievesinto a blenderthe result would be Void Crew. Compared to FTL, Void Crew adds a four-player coop and is played through a third-person view. Like FTL, each run of Void Crew is instance-based and after each run, you’ll unlock different kinds of ships and outfits to use in future runs.

One of the most addictive survival zombie games you and your friends can play.Project Zomboidlooks like a game from an age gone by, but the layers of complexity and immersion are what keep this game addictive. 12. Stardew Valley

This game is perfect if you just want to relax with some friends or build a farm with your significant other. Stardew Valley encourages its players to enjoy it at their own pace and to build their farm however they’d like.

Stardew Valleyis one of the kings of the farming simulator genre. Few games have captured the same level ofcozy, relaxed gameplayand intriguing character stories.

mixcollage-08-dec-2024-02-11-pm-2997.jpg

At its core, the premise of Stardew Valley is rather simple: you play as a new farmer in a small town. The only job you have is to earn a living and expand your farm. This lets the player do whatever suits their mood. You could raise crops and animals, fish, or adventure into a local dungeon filled with monsters. On top of this, Stardew Valley has plenty of mysteries to explore to keep you entertained.

With four players, everyone can choose to live out their best life and split all the income however they please. Making a farm with four people’s worth of effort and input can be a trying experience at times, but looking back and admiring your group’s efforts is an amazing experience.

11. Outlast Trials

The Outlast Trials supports up to 4 players and is great if you want a horror game where you and your friends have to solve a series of puzzles like manic labrats while monsters and psychotic murderers lurk in the surrounding shadows.Outlast Trials is 25% off, leaving it at $22.49.

Long-time fans of horror will be familiar with the Outlast games. They’ve made a name for themselves through their often intense and disturbing games. This time inOutlast Trials, it’s the typical Outlast experience (solving puzzles, jump scares when you least expect it, creepy night vision effects) butwith your friends! It makes the experience a little less scary, but the here-and-there jump-scares will keep you on your toes, along with psychotic inmates, limited resources, and your friends being jerks about hogging items to themselves.

10. Escape The Backrooms

Compared to Outlast Trials, Escape The Backrooms places more emphasis on solving puzzles and avoiding supernatural monsters that will trick and chase you whenever they get the chance. This creates a more heart-pounding experience than Outlast Trials, which is more about avoiding the psychotic inmates.

Similar to the Outlast Trials, Escape The Backrooms is another multiplayer horror game where the existence of your friends only slightly diminishes the horror in the game itself. In this game, you’ll be solving different puzzles in liminal spaces. However, within these begrudgingly dull mazes lives at least one murderous entity that will try to rip you and your friends apart limb from limb. Solving these puzzles and dodging the monsters is where this game truly shines as a multiplayer experience.

This game supports up to 4 players, and it also has proximity voice chat, which helps both immersion and adds some extra fun in some sections.

9. Party Animals

Party Animals is a hilarious 4 player party game to play with friends. If you’re looking for a cute, but adorably violent game to bully your loved ones in, then Party Animals will be a wonderful game for your group.

If you’re looking for a casual and friendly game to play with friends or family, check out Party Animals (provided you don’t mind cartoon violence). Party Animals has players compete in several different minigames while dressed like animals and sometimes beating each other senselessly. Usually, the minigames are about surviving longer than your loved ones. However, knocking them off ledges or brutalizing them with nearby weapons is also highly encouraged.

It’s still receiving updates that give it new maps, new characters, and new outfits. Plus, its $14 price point on Steam’s winter sale is just right for this light-hearted party game.

8. Remnant 2

Remnant 2 has up to 3 players journeying across different realms to try and save the multiverse. Players get to blast their way through hordes of enemies to collect loot and level up so they can take on harder levels.

Remnant IIis a looter shooter similar toThe Divisionin some regards, except instead of surviving in a post-apocalyptic city, you’re hopping between dimensions to destroy bosses and save the multiverse.

This game’s greatest strengths can be seen in itslevel design and procedural generation. Levels can vary from the gothic Losomn to the futuristic, sci-fi world of N’Erud. Enemies and quests in each level are unique and have a ton of flavor to them. Sections of the map will also be procedurally generated, so maps will all look similar and have a similar layout, but they won’t be the exact same each time you visit them.

7. Risk of Rain Returns, Risk of Rain 2 (And DLC)

Risk of Rain Returns brings the old 2D Risk of Rain into the present with remade graphics and a few new features. When it’s all taken together, Risk of Rain Returns becomes one of the most addictive roguelites to play with friends.

Risk of Rain 2 remains one of the best multiplayer roguelites to jam with friends. Each player can divvy up the map and grab items while also slowly snowballing their build into an unstoppable monster-slaying machine. Some characters also heavily reward good aim, which is also a great way to take advantage of the 3D graphics compared to Risk of Rain Returns.

Both Risk of Rains are outstanding examples of how to do a multiplayer roguelike well. They’ve instilled the best parts of the roguelite genre down to insane, in-run upgrades that help your character snowball into a nigh-unkillable god, and out-of-run unlocks that add plenty of replayability and variety to each run.

Between the two games, Risk of Rain Returns is a 2D platformer that’smore than just a simple remake of the original Risk of Rain. It feels like the multiplayer Dead Cells with varied but unique characters to play as. In comparison,Risk of Rain 2is a 3D third-person shooter that follows a similar structure to Risk of Rain Returns, but the leap into 3D adds a welcome element for players who want to aim their weapons a little more.

If you need a new high-speed mobility shooter, then Roboquest should be at the top of your list of games to play.

In this game, you play as one of 6 different robots to blast through a roguelite run with. The gunplay and mobility are addictive, each run’s builds are varied and can change based on what guns you want to use, and the aesthetics feel like a moving comic book.

In two player coop, having two robots traveling at ridiculous speeds through a level is both an entertaining and hilarious sight to behold.

3. Deep Rock Galactic
