A few hours down the line, Sony dropped the much-anticipated trailer forVenom: The Last Dance. The third iteration of the franchise helmed by Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock previewed some of the most iconic scenes that it had in store and took fans over by storm. Additionally, it also highlighted a sense of tension and brought forward the fact that it could indeed be the last time that the symbiotic relationship rolls on the screens, at least for the British actor.

The trailer debut also marked Hardy as the only other actor in Sony’s Spider-Man universe to complete a trilogy of movies after Tobey Maguire. Regardless of such highs, the teaser also threw numbing plot inconsistencies. A complete disregard or lack of sense prevailed as the snippet seemingly did away with the multiverse crossover that took place in Tom Holland’s 2021 flick,Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Venom: The Last Dancetrailer just does not make sense
Thethree-minute cut-and-stitch first trailerfor the third installment of Sony’s symbiote franchise rained down a fever grip for its celebrated moments. From a poignant character development for Mrs. Chen, who now trusted Venom enough to dance with him, to peak comic-book movie scenes such as a symbiote horse, the teaser had its moments. However, it presented a brutal plot hole and confusion with the inclusion ofChiwetel Ejiofor.
Known for his role as Mordo and his variant in the twoDoctor Strangemovies, the actor seemingly takes up a villainous role in the thirdVenommovie. Yet, the utmost senselessness pops up when the clips show his Sony character picking up the trace ofTom Hardy’s symbiote from the very same bar and likely in the company of the same bartender who featured in the post-credits scene ofSpider-Man: No Way Home.

Venom 3 Trailer May Have Secretly Hid References to 3 Separate Spider-Man Universes – But Left Out the Most Important One
The 2021 movie had Eddie Brock transported briefly to the main MCU timelinebefore pulling him back. Thus, the scene from the trailer poses whether Ejiofor’s character is a Mordo variant capable of traversing the multiverse or if it is just Sony’s way of completely forgetting the chain of events and focusing on setting up its own universe.
Another point of contention sparks fans’ debate
If the confusion over Mordo was not enough, the latest trailer also includedRhys Ifansas an undisclosed character put in isolation and under watch. The actor played Dr. Curtis Connors, aka the Lizard inThe Amazing Spider-Manas well as inSpider-Man: No Way Home.Despite the memorable scenes featured in the trailer, these plot inconsistenciesstood out like a sore thumb and had fans questioning and guessing.
Tom Hardy Fans Get a Ray of Hope: Venom 3 Trailer Rating Promises Better Blood and Gore after ‘Let There Be Carnage’ Disaster
Several fans leaned into the theory that Sony simply chose to ignore the end of the lastTom Hollandflick and the characters, at best, will be plot holes that Marvel Studios need to solve on their end. Moreover, thehopes for that piece of symbiote bonding to or at least appearing against MCU’s Spider-Manalso appeared to fade away.
That’s also Mordo from doctor strange 😭😭

If they do it right, someone else got transported to the MCU along with Venom or Brock’s universe found out how to travel the multiverse.

It’s Sony…they will probably just screw continuity and screw up the whole larger plot lol

Another Sony Marvel movie that doesn’t make any sense because how is this possible 😭pic.twitter.com/VK7IyrYos2

Yeah, which means this film partly takes place in the MCU (which makes it more confusing) or they’re completely retconning NWH’s post credit scene
Clearly the Venome verse is joining the MCU. It’s why Spiderman 4 was delayed Sony wanted to mix both

Only logical explanation is that the same bartender got transferred into Venom’s universe, and with the Mordo thing it was just lazy casting that they didn’t think through properly.

Plot details forVenom: The Last Dancestill remains under wraps. However, the trailer has suggested that many other symbiotes from space will join in to take down Hardy’s pal in a battle-heavy affair, as suggested by a line in the trailer –“An army is coming”.Moreover, Eddie Brock, too, will be on the hunt by special forces, setting the stage for a mega-showdown.
Venom: The Last Danceis currently scheduled for an October release.
