Sword Art Onlinecharacters who aren’t supposed to appear in the first part of theAlicizationarc were strongly teased inSAOAlicization Lycoris.
Bandai Namco and Dengeki Online held theSAOGame Fan Kanshasai 2020 event on March 7. The event was streamed and was mixed up a bit, as no live audience was present due to Coronavirus COVID-19 concerns. The stream had multiple segments, each focusing on differentSword Art Onlinegames. What’s important is how besides new gameplay forAlicization Lycoris, Silica’s seiyuu, Rina Hidaka was also present the whole stream.
When theSword Art Online Alicization Lycorissegment rolled over, Rina Hidaka pressed game Producer Yousuke Futami for answers regarding whether Silica appears in the game or not.At the 1:35:37 mark on the stream,Producer Futami first answered that Silica doesn’t appear inSAOAL. However, he added that we should wait for further information regarding characters who were in the real world and didn’t join Underworld in the early part ofAlicization arc,which includes Silica.Hidaka Rina also mentioned how Silica has been in allSAOgames so far, so there’s no reason why she wouldn’t be in this one either, and how they wouldn’t have told her to come to this event if not.
Japanese streams are 100% scripted, and nothing is left to chance, meaning they wouldn’t have had this discussion meaninglessly. Meaning it’s likely characters such as Silica, Lisbeth, Leafa, and Sinon will appear inAlicization Lycoris. At worst, they will probably be added as DLC, as pastSAOgames addedAlicizationarc characters Alice and Eugeo this way.
