Jared Padalecki might have to solo Season 16 ofSupernaturalif it ever happens, but there is one film from the actor’s filmography that seems to have been ripe for some sort of multi-canon crossover. BeforeSupernatural, the actor was part of a small remake of a 1953 film calledMystery of the Wax.

In the film, calledHouse of Wax, Jared Padalecki’s character, Wade, dies thanks to a serial killer who uses wax on his victims. However, pit the same character against Sam Winchester, and there might be a curb stomp that makes for great television. Of course, the character of the serial killer, Bo Sincalir, might not be able to jump universes, but having Sam Winchester take down a demon with a similar MO can make for a great episode nonetheless.

Season 16 ofSupernatural, should it happen, can give Sam a very interesting handicap

Sam and Dean have always been a demon-hunting duo, in that it was rare to catch one of the brothers alone on a case. Season 16, should it stick to the ending that Dean Winchester received in the series finale, could see Sam doing the hunting alone, which is not a handicap that we have seen that character get for an entire season.

Long Live the Winchester Legacy: Jared Padalecki Should Revive a Canceled Supernatural Spinoff That Had Its Own Dedicated Episode in Season 9

Having a demon, a possessed serial killer, or a monster of some sort with a thing for wax figurines can play into the urban fantasy aspect ofSupernatural, while also maintaining the dark tone that the show sometimes goes for. Sam would be pitted against this demon alone, the first time since Dean’s death, which would make it fertile ground to explore some sort of emotional depth.

Alternatively, this could be Sam’s first adventure with his future wife, or even his son, who has a hunter’s tattoo, and probably toom over the family business. Given that the son is also named Dean, it would bring an odd sense of irony to the episode. The film made $70 million (as perThe Numbers) on a budget of $40 million, which says that the film at least had potential.

In fact, it does not even have to be Season 16 where Sam Winchester shows up

Supernaturalmight have ended, and there might not be any active plans to bring it back, but the show’s universe is vast enough to merit at least a few spin-offs down the line, should creators and fans be interested in it. While the most recent spin-off of the show,The Winchesters, got canceled just after 13 episodes, the world ofSupernaturalis seeded with a slew of interesting characters and concepts that could launch a spin-off of their own.

Jared Padaleckicould pop up in any one of these shows, should they ever get picked up, and follow the plotline around the Wax Demon. In fact, if there is ever a continuation of the show in any capacity, Sam’s son Dean could also pop up in these shows, as a way of connecting the IPs together and keeping the Supernatural universe better put together than the MCU.

Supernaturalcan be streamed on Prime Video.
