Stephen Amell could be considered one of the most important actors of the Arrow-verse, essentially functioning like the Robert Downey Jr. of The CW’s DC block of shows. One of the things that Amell was keen on doing, was bringing the characters in the DCEU, something that did not materialize.

However, the actor was very keen on interpreting the Arrow in a TV-MA manner, such that he would be able to cuss a little and perhaps even depict the Green Arrow in a more brutal light. Speaking on the Inside of You podcast, Amell revealed what exactly he had in mind for a film like that.

Stephen Amell wanted to swear as Green Arrow in the film

Speaking on theInside of Youpodcast, the actor talked about how he would have liked to take a different approach with Green Arrow if he had been allowed in the DCEU. He said:

I mean I joked about it, because I think that it would be wonderful one these days to go back and do something that was in a medium where I could break bones and drop an F-bomb and just sort of go the ‘hard R’ [rating] version of Arrow.

However, this was not the only time where Amell talked about the Green Arrow in a cinematic capacity. While largely relegated to the television space, Amell revealed that there were talks about the Green Arrow getting a film that made it to the studio level, only to be shut down

Stephen Amell revealed the film was filled because of ‘fear’

Stephen Amellalso revealed on the podcast that there were talks of anArrowfilm, which never saw the light of day after being shut down at the studio level. He said:

We tried to do that…to my understanding, it just got killed at the studio level from people that, I think, were making decisions…that were fear-based.

A lot of the Arrowverse ran concurrently with the DCEU, which was perhaps the reason that the studio decided to keep the Arrowverse separate. There was also the fact that late seasons of the show, and even those of the shows that came after, were not particularly well received, especially later shows likeBatwomanthat failed to generate the momentum thatArrow, The Flash, andSupergirlwere able to.
