Starfieldhas a bunch of little moments thrown in that you may encounter when you’re approaching or leaving a planet. While there are plenty of fun ones, like the sea shanty-singing captain of The Valentine and freehome cooking served up by Grandma, players will often run across a traveling merchant who’s trying to sell them an extended warranty on their spaceship.
Obviously a joke encounter mirroring real-life phone calls from telemarketers, the encounter has popped up so frequently that its earned a reputation of annoyance among the fan base. However, it seems like not many people have taken the insurance salesperson up on their bogus-sounding offer, but one player has recently shared just what happens when you purchase the most expensive plan available.

Starfield Player Discovers More “Immersive” Cutscene When Taking Off
The cutscene is supposedly built into the vanilla game.
So, What Do You Get Out Of It?
The player, posting on Reddit under the username Various_Counter_9569, saw it fit to purchase the Platinum Elite Plan at a cost of 200,000 credits, a price higher than you can payfor most ships in the gamewhen buying them from a manufacturer or spaceport. (A couple of cheaper plans are also shown as being available for 50,000 or 100,000 credits.)
As a reward for shelling out all those credits, the player has answered the question of what you get if you actually take this scam merchant up on their offer, and that answer is a single data slate (although one person responding to the post facetiously claimed that if your ship is destroyed in battle after purchasing the warranty, you won’t die, and someone will come to repair it for you).

As expected, the warranty doesn’t actually do anything of value in the game, but it’s nice to know that someone took the time to investigate the humorous addition thatBethesdathrew in just to be sure.
At the very least, the extended ship warranty throws in an added level of levity and immersion for players who are heavily invested in creatingfun and unique ship builds, which the player base seems to feel is one of the best parts of the game.
