After a while, though, you might start growing weary of its name and might wonder how to rename your ship. You wouldn’t be alone in this—it’s not uncommon to find yourself wanting to change it and give it a fresh spin after a few adventures.

Maybe the name you chose at first just doesn’t feel right anymore, you lost a dare, or you’ve thought of something cooler. Whatever the reason is, we understand.

Fortunately, renaming your ship is a simple process, and this guide will show you exactly how to go about doing it. Along the way, we’ll also offer some additional ship-related tips to help you on yourStarfieldjourney.

How to Rename Your Ship in Starfield

To rename your ship, you’ll need to visit a Ship Services Technician, an NPC found in most major spaceports and cities across the Settled Systems. Locations like New Atlantis and Cydonia are prime spots to find them, but they’re also present in larger areas like Paradiso and The Den.

Once you’ve found a technician, approach them and initiate a conversation. You’ll want to select the option that allows you to “view and modify your ships.” This will open a menu where you can see all the ships you currently own, either through purchasing or acquiring through ‘forceful’ means (we don’t judge).

From there, highlight the ship you want to rename and press the button prompt to access the Ship Builder. Inside this menu, look for the option marked as the Flight Check. Selecting this will bring up an information box about your ship.

At this point, you’ll have the opportunity to rename it. Check the bottom right to find the button prompt tied to the “Rename Ship” action. Once you’ve entered your new ship name and confirmed it, the change is complete.
