You’ll come across a variety of strange fish to catch in Stardew Valley. One of those fish includes theGhostfish. This is one of the many special fishes you can come across during your fishing trips.

The fish can be caught very early on and has a variety of uses. Read on to learn about those uses and how you can catch some of your own.
Ghostfish Info And Uses
The Ghostfish is a pale fish that can be caught inunderground areas. The Fishing XP you earn isn’t a lot, even at iridium quality. Eating a Ghostfish gives you up to 98 Energy and 44 Health, and can be sold for up to 135g if you have an iridium-quality Ghostfish and the Angler skill.
The Ghostfish can be used in a variety of ways. It is required to complete theSpecialty Fish Bundlefor the Fish Tank in the Community Center. For this, it doesn’t matter what quality you have, so if you come across a Ghostfish, it’s best to immediately use it for progression.
Ghostfish can be used in any food recipe where fish will suffice, including Sashimi (without the Fisher or Angler skills, you canincrease the value of any Ghostfish below iridium qualityby making Sashimi out of them and selling the dish). Unfortunately, It doesn’t have any recipes that uniquely require it.
The Ghostfish can be used in ponds on your character’s farm. After makingroe, the Ghostfish will start producingQuartzafter the pond reaches a population of three. In addition to three Quartz, the Ghostfish will start producingWhite Algae, Refined Quartz, and Pale Brothonce the population reaches nine. It can also assist you in increasing the population of other fish ponds, specifically Dorado, Lingcod, and Pike.
That’s about where the uses end. The fish does not make for a great gift. It’s neutral to Willy, Demetrius, Elliot, Linus, Pam, Sebastian, and Leo. Everyone else eitherdislikes or hates it. Here’s how you can get your hands on a Ghostfish for yourself.

Ghostfish Location
In addition to occasionally appearing in theTraveling Cart, the Ghostfish can be found during any time of day, in any season, and in any weather, as long as players are fishing in theMines. The mines are located in the mountains of Pelican Town to the northeast of Robin’s house. You can enter the Mines when the debris is cleared, which automatically happenson the fifth day of Spring. Once you go in and receive your Rusty Sword for protection, you can start going deeper into the Mines.
The Ghostfish can be found onFloor 20as well as Floor 60. These floors will have large bodies of water to the right side where you can fish. Progressing through the floors requires going down ladders, which you’ll usually need to find with your Pickaxe. If you’d like an easier time making it through the floors, there are a few things you can do.
The first thing is toupgrade your Pickaxe at the Blacksmith. This makes your Pickaxe go through tougher stones faster than before. It requires five copper bars (which translates from 25 copper ore), and 2,500g. You can also useStaircases, which you can craft with 99 stones after reaching Mining Level 2. This allows you to go down to the next floor automatically without needing to find the ladder.
You can also benefit fromincreased luckin the mines. A higher luck stat makes it easier to find ladders on each floor. Check the Daily Luck on the TV each day to get a good idea of what your luck stat will be. You can also increase your luck with buffs from various dishes.
It’s important to keep in mind that you canautomatically travelto each fifth floor you make it toby using the elevator at the entrance to the mines. So don’t try to push yourself to make it through more floors within a day than you can handle (fainting in the mines will result in a fee and some lost items). Using all of this to your advantage, you should make it through the floors easily.
Tips For Catching Ghostfish
The Ghostfish has a difficulty of 50 and a behavior of “Mixed.” It moves in anormal pattern and is easy to catchfor most players with a lower Fishing Level. However, the mines don’t hold many fish in them. If you aren’t catching a Ghostfish on Floor 20 (as well as a Stonefish), you’ll be catching algae or trash instead. Because of this, you’ll at least want a Fiberglass Rod since it can make use ofbait(this can be bought from Willy’s shop for 1,800g after reaching Fishing Level 2).
For those that don’t have access to the Fishing Rod, you can make fishing for it easier by usingmeals that increase your Fishing Levelwith a buff. Some of these can be found in WIlly’s shop. It also helps to look forfishing bubbles. These will be the most helpful since they make trash less likely to be fished up, and increase the rate of fish bites on their own. When they produce ablue sparkle, you’ll know that you’ve hit your bobber on the tile with the bubbles.
