Mining is one of the most highly profitable jobs inStar Citizen, but it only pays off when you know what you should mine. There are also some other tips to consider like how to upgrade your mining ship or increase its capabilities, but here we will strictly focus on mineable material.

RELATED:Star Citizen: How To Mine Gemstones

Unlike most other jobs and quests, mining doesn’t feature any contracts, which means you are totally on your own to discover the mineable rocks and extract valuable material from them. But that’s not the tricky part. The main question is what kind of ores or Gemstones are really worth spending time on?

10Hephaestanite (HEPH, Ore)

Although Hephaestanite is the cheapest ore in this list, it can be found easily on most moons in the Stanton system. So, if you mine them quickly and get them to a refinery several times daily, you’re able to gain a significant amount of money.

As this mineral is relatively cheap, you are advised to refine it with the Dinyx method, which gives you the highest yield at the lowest cost and slow speed. It’s going to need a lot of work to get rich with Hephaestanite, which is why we suggest you only mine it when you want to extract something quickly and get back to the refinery.

9Aphorite (Gemstone)

Of the three available Gemstones in Star Citizen, Aphorite is the second most valuable, with a little distance from Dolivine in the third spot. The Aphorite rocks can be found almost at every moon in Star Citizen, but Daymar is probably one of the best locations for all Gemstones, especially Aphorite.

Although 1 SCU of Aphorite will get you big money, it is not that easy to mine such an amount of gemstones as they are scattered around the moons and planets, requiring you to travel a lot between locations to mine.

8Agricium (AGRI, Ore)

Offering almost double the amount you’re able to gain from Hephaestanite, Agricium is a valuable material to mine in Star Citizen. If you find a rock that possesses over 40% of Agricium, you should definitely start mining it.

Agricium isn’t as common as Hephaestanite on the moons, but if you spend just a bit more time exploring, you can find enough rocks with Agricium to fill in your Mole or Prospector’s cargo space.

7Laranite (LARA, Ore)

Laranite and Agricium are so close to each other in value and rarity, but Laranite can be sold more expensive in certain trade centers in the verse. Like Agricium, you can find Laranite in multiple moons from Lyria to Aberdeen.

The only reason why Laranite pays off better is the fact that it survives the refinery process pretty well compared to Agricium. So, you have a slightly bigger yield when you refine Laranite compared to Agricium.

6Borase (BORA, Ore)

If you sell Borase in the trade centers of any major city in the verse, you are guaranteed to earn more than Laranite. Although Borase has a lower resistance against the refinery process when compared to Laranite and Agricium, it is still more profitable.

Unfortunately, Borase is rarer to find than Laranite, but even if you find a rock with 30% of Borase, it is still worth mining the rock and getting the valuable material out of it.

5Gold (Ore)

Even in the far future of Star Citizen, Gold is still quite an expensive material. You can sell refined Gold at a pretty high price, but the only downside with the Gold that stops it from being among the top three minerals is the fact that it is too dense.

Simply put, you must find and mine a lot of Gold to extract 1 SCU. As a result, mining a material like Taranite is more profitable even though it is cheaper than Gold.

4Hadanite (Gemstone)

Hadanite is the most valuable gemstone in Star Citizen, and mining it is one of the easiest ways to start earning big money when you have just started the game and don’t have enough budget to buy better ships.

Hadanite can be mined either with a Greycat ROC ground vehicle or a single Multi-tool with a mining attachment. The good thing about Gemstones is the fact that they don’t require refining, but it is pretty time-consuming to collect 1 SCU of Hadanite as it involves a lot of travel unless you board your ROC on a ship and roam around Crusader’s Daymar to find Hadanite gemstones.

3Taranite (TARA, Ore)

Looking for a giant leap in ore mining after Borase? Well, you need to look for Taranite, then. The price range for Taranite in major cities is quite close to that of Gold. But the good news is Taranite doesn’t have the density problem of Gold.

Taranite is slightly rarer than Laranite or Agricium, but its rarity is almost closer to that of Gold, which makes it better than the decorative mineral in any aspect.

2Bexalite (BEXA, Ore)

Bexalite and Taranite are pretty close in almost every aspect, but the good thing about Bexalite is that its price range isn’t as expansive as that of Taranite.

This means if you’re able to’t travel to major cities because of a highCrimeStat, you can still sell Bexalite at unofficial markets for a considerable price. Regarding rarity, though, Bexalite is harder to find than Taranite, but you can still find it in smaller rocks that can be mined with a single Prospector.

1Quantainium (QUAN, Ore)

Quantainium is the most valuable ore in Star Citizen by far and the best material in mining to get you rich fast, but it’s easier said than done. Quantainium is a rare material. Although you can find it often in Lyria, a moon of ArcCorp, and some other asteroid fields, the difficult part is its instability. After mining, Quantainium needs to be delivered to the refinery as soon as possible, as the material will be wasted over time.

Additionally, Quantainium can usually be found inside bigger rocks with massive mass, which requires multi-crew mining. However, it is still possible to find rocks that are mineable with a single Prospector and hold a significant amount of Quantainium.
