News regardingMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moraleshas been a bit confusing ever since the game was first revealed. Originally after its unveiling, some were led to believethat the new entry in the series was merely standalone DLC rather than a full, new game. Now, once again, information regarding whatMiles Moralesactually contains is in question once again.
According to a new issue of Game Informer, and spotted by those fine folks atComic Book,Spider-Man: Miles Moralesis said to not only contain the brand-new standalone experience centered around Miles, but it will also include a PS5 remaster of the 2018Spider-Mangame on PS4. This hasn’t been verified by either Insomniac Games or Sony just yet, but the latest issue of Game Informer purports, “Miles Moralesisn’t a traditional sequel, since it comes bundled with a remastered version of Insomniac’sSpider-Manthat takes full advantage of the PS5 hardware.”
So what’s the likelihood that this is actually the case? Well, given that a spokesperson from Sony has previously describedSpider-Man: Miles Moralesas “an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game” it seems as though the likelihood that the original game could also be coming to PS5 might very well happen.
There’s also the fact that Insomniac Games has clearly been able to get the originalMarvel’s Spider-Manrunning on PS5, too. How do we know this, exactly? If you remember back in 2019 when Sony first began showcasing the power of the PS5, the game that was used in questionduring tech demos was that ofSpider-Man. While this very well could have just been a backward compatible iteration ofSpider-Manfor PS4 running on PS5, it stands to reason that Insomniac may have just fully ported the game over to the new hardware instead.
For now, it’s worth noting that nothing here has been confirmed, so don’t get too excited just yet. That said, given thatSpider-Man: Miles Moralesand the PS5 are both set to launch in the next four to five months, we should hear more about this either way quite soon.
