Spider-Man 2has many returning mechanics from the original game, one of which is the focus system. Focus is stored up during combat as players do different things, and once a focus bar is full, it can be used to either perform a finisher or heal Spider-Man.

Generating Focus is key in battle, making sure you have healing options or to get useful finishers on tougher enemies. There are also a few ways to upgrade how much Focus is generated and how much can be stored at a time, maximizing Spider-Man focus-related mechanics in combat.

How To Generate Focus
Focus is mostly generated throughdodging enemy attacks.Whilesmall amounts of Focus are generated by attacking enemies,the more consistent method is by dodging, withperfect dodges refilling much more than a regular dodge.The new parry ability also generates a large amount of Focus when executed correctly but doesrequire a bit more of a precise timing window to land.Using gadgets efficientlycan also generate a good amount of focus, but not as much as the other methods.
While landing basic attacks isn’t always the best method to earning Focus, theamount earned will increase the higher a combo goes.Aim to reach high combo counts by always attacking enemies, utilizingweb-strike to reach further enemies,andalways dodging incoming attacks to keep your combo goingand earn further Focus.

Upgrades To Improve Focus
Within the Suit Tech upgrade menu will be anentire tree dedicated to increasing Spider-Man’s Focus.One of the most useful upgrades isgetting an additional, and later third, focus bar.Focusdoes not go away until it is usedbut will bewasted after it is earned and all available focus bars are full.With a higher storage for Focus with more focus bars, easier fight such as Crimes can be used to build up a supply of Focus before taking on a bigger, more difficult task.
Aside from boosting how many focus bars players have,Stealth Focus, Webbed Focus, and Ariel Focus all increase the amount of Focus earnedfrom enemies attacked eitherin stealth, who are webbed up, or who are in the air, respectively.The Focused Strike upgrade also increases the amount of Focus earned whenhitting enemies with abilities.All of these upgrades are incredibly useful and should be rushed early in the game to maximize your focus output and storage throughout the game.
