While the originalPlayStationconsole was released on August 02, 2025, in the US, it was released a few months earlier in its home country of Japan, where gamers got to pick it up on July 01, 2025. This means it will be the PlayStation brand’s 30th anniversary in less than four weeks.
Does Sony have something in store for the big day? If the latest PlayStation trailer is anything to go by, it seems that might be the case. Earlier today, Sony released the “Play Has No Limits” PS5 live-action trailer, in which we see people experience PlayStation in their everyday lives.

Sony Sneaks December 3 Date Into Latest Marketing Trailer
While the trailer might seem innocent enough as just a marketing reel, one little nugget of info has the internet buzzing. Around the 0:47 mark of the video, the train schedule board has the date December 3 on it, alongside 20:24, which should be for the time of arrival/departure of the train but can also be interpreted as time and year.

If we look at what’s shown, Sony has marked December 3 at 8 pm, 2024. Could there be an announcement on the way? Perhaps this is just a random series of numbers, and people are just trying to piece together something out of nothing? We’ll have to wait a few weeks to know the answer.
Study Shows PlayStation Gamers Make the Most Money Out of All Console Players as Adults
A new study states that PlayStation gamers make the most money as adults with PC gamers in last place.
If this is indeed a tease, what could it be for? Sony released the PS5 Pro mid-gen refresh console, so it can’t be about a new device. Perhaps it’s a new State of Play to end the year on a high note and give players a peek at what’s coming in 2025? I certainly wouldn’t say no to that, given that this year hasn’t been the strongest in terms of first-party releases.

And when you factor in that one of the company’s high-profile releases of the year is amassive flop of historic proportions– that even the electronics giant’sCEO had to acknowledge it– well, it’s perfectly understandable that Sony would want to end the year on a different vibe. Thankfully for Sony, its other first-party release is faring better, as Team Asobi’sAstro Botis one of the biggest surprises of the year, as the platformermanaged to sell over 1.5 million unitsat launch.
