After a slew of underwhelming releases from the MCU, Ryan Reynolds’Deadpool & Wolverineturned out to be one of the biggest hits of the years. Not only did it reignite the spark in the MCU, but the film further realized Channing Tatum’s long-lost dream of playing Gambit onscreen.

Although it remains unclear if the MCU would be inclined to bring Tatum back for more Gambit in the MCU, according to Reynolds, the top brass at Marvel are apparently obsessed with the idea.

With the MCU gradually heading towards its next Avengers crossover, it’s safe to say manyformer Marvel starsmight end up appearing in the multiversal event. Deadpool 4: Ryan Reynolds Should Consider a Marvel Villain Deadpool is Genuinely Terrified of for Neutralizing His Healing Factor
Tatum, who initially missed out on playing Gambit following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, has been vocal about returning to the role afterDeadpool 3. However, according toRyan Reynolds, the MCU is obsessed with the idea, even though he doesn’t exactly know what is happening behind closed doors at Marvel.
I honestly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in the bookkeeping sessions at Marvel, but I do know that they’re obsessed with him in that role

He further drewcomparisonswith his 2014Deadpooltest footage, which got the ball rolling on his 2016Deadpoolfeature.
It’s kind of like the same situation I went through. Once you show that it works well, that’s really what they need. Sometimes they just need to see it in action.

As for Gambit’s future, noting the fan response to Tatum’s appearance inDeadpool3, we might end up seeing a repeat of 2016’sDeadpool.
Ryan Reynolds Is Ready to Assist Channing Tatum in a PotentialGambitMovie
If Channing Tatum’s Gambit feature eventually takes off, which seems likely after Reynolds’ statements, theDeadpoolstar has assured theMagic Mike star that he’d be happy to assist the actor in any way he could. Reflecting on Tatum’sinterview, in which the actor spoke highly of Reynolds and credited theRed Noticestar for reviving the IP, Reynolds took to hisIGstory to share:
When he makes a Gambit movie, I’ll return the favour. If he needs someone to carry sandbags, I’m in. If hje needs a Deadpool, I can do that. Someone to provide fresh orange slices to the crew, no problem. Name it.

While it remains to be seen what the future holds for Tatum’s Gambit, from the small sample inDeadpool 3, it won’t be too far-fetched to say that he’d absolutely rock a potential standalone feature.
