Henry Cavill’s cameo as a Wolverine variant inDeadpool 3was not on fans’ bingo cards, like, ever. And yet, we got the ex-Superman star playing a Marvel mutant before GTA 6. Oh, well.

Powerful as his Wolverine variant may be (poor Wade Wilson gets thrashed across the room despite his sweet promise), neither Cavill’s nor Hugh Jackman’s yellow-clad mutant, for that matter, would be a match against this one variant.
Introducing, the Brutal Wolverine Variant – Weapon X
Remember the Wolverine with a metallic arm who has no time forDeadpool‘s gimmicks and so immediately attacks him? Yeah, that one. That’s Weapon X, who is more or less, the patron saint of all the Wolverine variants.
In the comics (the Age of Apocalypse storyline), Weapon X – who debuts in 1995’sX-Men: Alpha #1– loses his arm in a brutal fight against Cyclops a“high-ranking henchman”of the supervillain.

In this particular conflict, Wolverine sliced out one of Cyclops’ eyes, in the same fight, where Wolverine had his hand blasted off by Cyclops’ optic beams, including the Adamantium that coated the bones of that hand, something his healing factor couldn’t handle, as Cyclops’ blast was simply too much for him.

So, not only has he survived a bloodbath of a fight trying to save Jean Gray, but Weapon X is quite literally, a super solider with Wolverine’s superhuman abilities and a grit unlike any other.
Deadpool 3– Weapon X Trumps the Deadpool Sidekick
All the Wolverine variants in the latestDeadpoolinstallment are played byHugh Jackman, except for, of course,Henry Cavill.
But if there’s one version of the adamantium-clawed superhero that is much more dangerous than the rest of the simulacrums, – yes, including the Cavillerine – it’s Weapon X.

Sure, the one who battles it out with the malicious telepath Cassandra Nova is fueled by the grief of losing his team, but Weapon X is much more of a beast than the former. He lost the love of his life, after all (that’s Jean Gray, on the off chance that you didn’t know).

Even if we were to compare the disabled version of the mutant to other variants, none of them hold a candle to Weapon X. Be that the guy with an eyepatch named Patch or the greying Old Man Logan, and most definitely not the one being crucified.
Deadpool & Wolverineis out in theatres.
