Another video game property is being turned into a feature film, this time Sloclap’s beat-‘em-up indie hitSifu.
Netflix announced the collaboration today. It has some big names attached to it, though no actors have been confirmed for any roles.

It’s currently unknown if this will be a 1:1 adaptation of the game’s plot, and whether the film will somehow utilize the game’s unique “aging” mechanic. What we know is that John Wick franchise helmer Chad Stahelski is on board as a producer.
In the press release sent out, it’s mentioned that T.S. Nowlin, the writer of The Maze Runner trilogy, is adapting the script.

Sifu was released in 2022 on consoles and PC, and is a beat-‘em-up crafted by Sloclap, the same developers behind Absolver. The game’s plot is set in China, where you control a child who sees revenge for his murdered master (Sifu in Chinese means master), and everytime the player falls in battle, a talisman revives the player at the cost of accelerating his age.
The action game sold one million units in its first month of availability, and lifetime sales across all platforms are pegged at four million units.
