A recent patch forMortal Kombat 1has done the opposite of what a patch is supposed to do. Fans have been waiting for months for Sub-Zero to receive buffs to make him a more viable fighter. The latest patch promised to do just that by making certain fixes to how he plays.

Unfortunately, fans have been left feeling a little bit jibbed by the latest update, as Sub-Zero seems to have once again been largely ignored.
Once Again Sub-Zero Players Get Bread Crumbs
Sub Zero’s damage output and combo time have been the big issues fans have with the character; his moves do not do enough damage for the time they take to perform. This has led to a pretty lackluster character all around inMortal Kombat 1’splay.
Sadly, it seems that the new patch has done little to address the concerns fans have had with the character. Many players rejoiced that Sub Zero has finally received some buffs but pointed out that he is still more or less useless and that the buff has done nothing of value.

Thethiny on X shared the full patch notes, which can be readhere.GitGud_GG responded emotionally, only to be shot down by Thiny’s callous response about how useless the buff seems to be. NetherRealm seems to at least be listening to fans calling for changes, but it’s clear they could be moving a little faster with regard to Sub Zero.

Sub-Zero is one of the main faces ofMortal Kombat, so it’s very strange to see him largely ignored when the fanbase has been calling him for it since day one. Hopefully, NetherRealm can pull something together quickly; otherwise, they risk losing players whose patience is wearing thin.
Mortal Kombat 1 Players Are Getting Frustrated
It seems fans will have to wait a little longer for Sub-Zero to be worth playing, but one X user says it’s“too little, too late”and indicates that it’s not enough to bring them back to the game. This is a potentially serious issue; multiplayer games live and die on a satisfied player base.
“I’ve heard from a little birdie…”: Mortal Kombat 1 Could Be Seeing the Return of a Huge Character We Didn’t Think Possible
While one comment on X does not necessarily seem like a lot, it does point to the concern of players abandoning ships when they are not looked after.
We have already seen this year what happens when an unsatisfied and ignored player base decides to band together against a studio they feel has wronged them. The most memorable example so far is whenHelldivers 2players banded together against Sony and had themreverse a controversial decision.

But what do you think? Are the changes to Sub-Zero enough, or does NetherRealm Studios need to be doing more? Let us know in the comments!
