While these characters are certainly unique, the most interesting one among them is Mereoleona Vermillion, the first daughter of House Vermillion. Mereoleona is an intelligent fire Magic Knight, packed with unlimited power that has never been seen in the entire series. She is titled the Uncrowned, Undefeated Lioness, making her the strongest Fire Magic Knight, only to be rivaled by her brother Fuegoleon Vermillion.

Tabata previously confessed that the creation of Mereoleona was the consequence of all of his pent-up rage. By putting that rage into the female Magic Knight, he transformed Mereoleona into the fiery, short-tempered powerhouse that her followers know and love.

Tabata stated:

Thank you!! That makes me so happy. I probably did use magic. I was under so much pressure that I had to use magic. Mereoleona is a character that has a lot of rage in her and that’s something that everyone has a little bit inside of them, right? And so do I. Sorry for being negative, but I think she was born when all my anger had built up and was finally released.

Tabata has a habit of giving a specific trait to everyBlack Clovercharacter, and in the case of Mereoleona, it was her anger. This anger came from Tabata’s built-up frustration, which he probably felt while coming up with the complex narrative forBlack Clover.

Thus,Yūki Tabatadecided to imbue this rage into Mereoleona, making her one of the strongest female characters in the entire anime and manga industry.

Mereoleona’s Rage Makes Her Special

Mereoleona’s aggressive demeanor toward other characters makes her look scary, to the point that eventhe strongest characterslike Yami are intimidated by her presence. She doesn’t like to meddle with the politics of an event or incident and would much rather prefer to use her fists of fury.

Although her rage is undoubtedly terrible, it has a purpose beyond just threatening others. She uses it to motivate others and make them want to become stronger than they already are. She is one of the main reasons why the Crimson Lion squad flourished during the absence of Fuegoleon.

Her anger and her unmeasurable strength also helped her grab the title of captain for the Royal Knights squad that attackedthe Eye of the Midnight Sun. Thus, she may look terrifying, but she is loyal to her duties and doesn’t shy away from any kind of challenge thrown towards her, which makes her one of the best-written characters inBlack Clover.
