Sea Of Starscombines all the beautiful elements of classic JRPGs into a single experience: deep exploration, hidden labyrinths, mysterious artifacts, and fishing! However, early in the game, players may find themselves confused as they try to determine which items to focus on and which less important items or locations to bypass.

This list contains all the essential information and answers to questions you may have as you immerse yourself in the world of Sea of Stars. There are many more secrets and revelations than those listed here, but these are best reserved for players who have ventured much deeper into the game.
10Don’t Go Looking For Solstice Shrines
Sea of Stars will make a big deal out of these Solstice Shrines at some point early in the story, and you will feel like there are tons of them to look for, but actually, there are only five, and most of them are unreachable until you get a certain fast travel ability really late in the game. So don’t bother with them until that happens.
Most of these shrines also have rare equipment that you may or may not need during the main quest. Only the first Solstice Shrine on Evermist Island is different. This one has a very useful combo spell that is worth the side trip to collect. The rest can be done at your leisure.

9Change Your Brightness Setting
It depends on the player, but some places like the Cursed Woods will be darker and more dimly lit than others, and some other places will actually have crystals that you will need to interact with to brighten the places up a bit.
Even so, if you increase the brightness in the Options menu, you will be able to see clearly without having to interact with these light sources and without having to slant your eyes in any dark forest.

8Don’t Sleep On Rainbow Conchs
From time to time, you will find Rainbow Conchs hidden in dungeons, or sometimes you will receive them as a reward for helping certain NPCs. These Conchs are actually very valuable, as there is an NPC named Mirna in a certain underwater area who will reward you with various items based on the number of Conchs you collect.

Not every reward will be of immediate use to you, but there’s a sweet item called the Cornucopia that will give you a +20 HP boost to all party members for the price of 11 Rainbow Conch only. Also once you’ve collected 27 Rainbow Conchs, Mirna will give you a handy Rainbow Conch Detector. So you can just spend a little time in each area looking for them until you reach that number, and let the rest of the Conchs naturally reveal themselves.
7Don’t Buy Armor & Weapons Early On
It’s best to spend your money on relics in the beginning. A special shop five hours into the game sells relics that you can turn on and off to reduce damage from enemies or allow party members to automatically block attacks. But what you really need to buy is the Gold Tooth relic.
This relic will give you a 10% discount on all items in all shops, so it makes no sense to buy items before you get this sweet discount. And you can find good armor and weapons in dungeons anyway if you look hard enough, so there’s no need to waste too much money on them when you’re still just starting.

6Don’t Obsess Over Shops
In Sea of Stars, each shop may have a different selection of items, but you really don’t need to be obsessed with buying them all or even remembering which shop had what. Later on, you will gain access to fast travel options as well as an island where most of these items and important relics are resold in special shops.
The only downside is that in order to unlock these shops and other facilities on this island, you’ll need to collect more Rainbow Conchs and also interact with NPCs around the world to bring people to work in these facilities, so in the end, fast traveling to the shops you’ve visited might be an easier option depending on your preference.

5Don’t Forget To Fish
There are plenty of fishing spots on each island, but fishing itself may seem like an afterthought in this game, especially since there’s no immediate reward for it. However, most of the powerful late-game cooking recipes actually require an awful lot of raw fish material to make.

My favorite recipe is the Surf and Turf Tataki, which heals +135 HP and +8 MP to all party members. This Recipe (which can be purchased from a shop) requires 6 fish ingredients and 6 seafood ingredients to make. With that in mind, if you don’t fish regularly by the time you unlock it, you won’t be able to benefit from it right away, which can be a disadvantage, especially with how powerful the later bosses are.
4Talk To Party Members In Camp
And in the ship, too. This may not seem important at first, but as you progress, your party members will talk about secret challenges and give you hints about locations you need to visit to unlock the game’s alternate ending.
Talking to Teaks is also very important if you want to learn more about the fate and background of certain characters and how the world came to be, so don’t forget to check in with her often and present her with any new artifacts you find.

3Choose Your Attack Targets Wisely
There are two types of attack spells and skills in Sea of Stars: single-target attacks and multi-target attacks. These multi-target attacks can also be divided into two types: those that hit all enemies and those that hit nearby targets. The thing is that the game registers these “nearby targets” differently depending on who you are attacking.

What this means is that if you have the cursor on one enemy, you will see that your attack may only hit two enemies, while if you have the cursor on another nearby enemy, you will see that the attack may hit three or more enemies. So take a moment to see which target contains the largest number of “nearby enemies” for maximum effect.
2You Can See Enemy HP, Weakness ِ& Resistance
or you will be able to—soon after you depart—with the right equipment, which is another reason why you should generally hold off on buying weapons and armor early in the game. There will be a very useful piece of equipment you can get from shops called the Abacus. This item continuously displays the HP of non-boss enemies in combat, without the need to activate it in each individual battle.
Later on, you’ll find a more powerful version of the Abacus called the Eye of Yomara, which will display the HP of non-boss enemies in addition to their weaknesses and resistances, so you don’t really need to do much strategizing early on in the game and just wait until you get these items for maximum performance in combat.
1Visit Every Location Again
Many locations in Sea of Stars will change over the course of the game. In addition, the NPCs in these locations will have different things to say (and sometimes different roles to play). If you have the time, consider returning to places like the town of Brisk or your starting village, Mooncradle.
That said, it may be better to wait until the end of the game to gain access to better fast-travel options so you may visit these locations with less hassle.
