While Clooney was only on set for three weeks, Bullock was there for much longer and got frustrated due to the lonely shooting style and precise movements for VFX.

Christopher Nolan on Why He Gravitated Toward Making Batman Movies: “He’s just someone who does a lot of push-ups”
While figuring out how to film the story of an astronaut stuck in space and navigating her way towards Earth was part of the challenge, getting an actress to do a convincing job and be precise in her movements for the VFX was another momentous task. However,Sandra Bullockwas game.
Still, spending ten hours a day being stuck on a robotic arm made for car factories, inside a one-person-only lightbox started to get to her. She said toThe Guardian,

That was the most frustrating part. You thought you’d executed it properly then you’d hear ‘Sandy …’ in the earpiece, and either Alfonso or Tim would say: ‘At 16.5 seconds, your hand was three inches too far forward, it needs to come back. Literally, if you were one inch out of place you had to start over…It was so angering and nerve-racking, but you just kept doing it till you got it right.
However, Bullock did say that the British crew managed to make the process more bearable and even went above and beyond to create a play area for her child while she was filming. All the efforts might have paid off for the actress as she was nominated for an Oscar.

I did a screen test for the movie ‘Gravity,’ that Sandra Bullock is fantastic in, but I had to be in like the full, whole space suit thing, and sort of pretend I was kind of like floating in space. Even though I was just sitting in a chair with a helmet on.

The actress was reportedly turned down from the role, which coupled with an initial rejection fromIron Man 2(though she eventually got it), led Johansson to spiral about what she was doing in her career.
