The biggest change was that so many of the sound-effects were notated in katakana. “boom” vs “BOOM” leaves a completely different impression.  My feelings when writing are the same. Whether gag or serious, pacing is a necessity.

She also opens up about the insecurities she experienced while drawing towards the final saga of the manga series. Takahashi frequently worried that her narrative might come off as dull to readers. She added:

When it first started, I think the readers were a bit perplexed by “Why isn’t this funny?” And when it got into more intense scenes and the characters weren’t smiling as much anymore, I was worried that the readers were growing tired of it.

She soon understood that regardless of the path she chose for the ending, Kagome’s separation from her loved ones was unavoidable. Therefore, she decides to give Kagome a happy ending,while keeping the readers excitedfor the finale.

As a result, Kagome travels back to Feudal Japan and is reunited with Inuyasha, promising him that she’ll stay back for good. While the romantic relationship between Kagome and Inuyasha took the most spotlight,Inuyashaalso tackles dark topics like death and past actions, exploring themes of love, loss, and redemption, which makes it a standout in the genre and captures the hearts of many anime fans.
